Why are search engines so fucking shit nowadays? 90% of results is meta shit they think they need to shove down your throat that has nothing to do with what i searched for. What is a good search engine?
>>108363546chatgpt....
>search for something>onsite AI completely misunderstanding your query>use imagesearch>it's all pinterest or AI image sitesthe internet feels like it's finished
>>108363546The best you can probably do is to use a ton of search engines for the same query and hope that the dark lord Satan will show you the way. Something like https://www.faganfinder.com/ could help, I don't know if there's a better online tool for multisearch. I've been meaning to build a local one, but I haven't gotten around to it.
>>108363546Yandex, but only when you use a VPN disguising yourself as a Russian so you get the full fat uncesnsored version.Yandoex is shit for westerners because its biased and it it hates you
>>108363579that just searches reddit who search google.
>>108363944I don't speak Russian though.
>>108363546>>108363579>>108363592there are some docs from google from before coof where they said they had like 90% of the market share so the head of finance told the head of search to make search shittier so they could serve more ads. I'm sure it accelerated after all the AI shit came out so they could push AI
>>108363944Yandex search-by-image was so fucking good before they gimped it. You could plug in the most obscure piece of lewd fanart or OF slampig photo and it would instantly come up with the source as well as dozens of other images just like it. I found so much good shit just going on Yandex deep dives after finding sauce for one image.
>>108364863This. I'm surprised it's not common knowledge on /g/
>>108365938It is well known, it's just that nobody brought it up. The proper question is: what are the alternatives?
>>108366026Asking LLMs to sift thru the garbage, I guess? That's why it's all the rage now like Google was back then.
>>108366096>>108366026the problem with that is google's AI just makes up garbage
>>108366178>makes up garbage>can't spot hallucinations instantlyskill issueAlso >google
>>108366223What are the alternatives? Bing is a shit combination of Google and Meta. Duckduckgo just does not show what I am looking for. It technically works, I type in terms and get results, but those results are barely related to what I searched. It's like using Google in 2003.
>>108366342Look, bro, idk what to tell you. Maybe you grew up when search engines magically gave you first result instant answer with no effort, but I learned to sift thru a couple of pages, refine my search terms a couple of times to get waht I actually need. I don't know how to teach that, but it's a skill. Just keep at it and you'll git gud?
>>108366223>>108366421>so we perfected search engines, but it's good they are bad now, git good
>>108366452I didn't perfect no fucking search engines, homo. I don't make 'em. And even then, they were never perfect, they were always shitte. It's a clogged toilet full of shit and you gotta learn to sift thru it instead of going boo-hoo it doesn't spoonfeed me what I want. Fuck you, I've spoonfed you enough as it is. I'm out.
>>108366557>shittego away, thirdie
>>108363546I've started using yahoo for news searches less shit, bing is however just as good as google now, maybe better on images and video.
>>108366557>they were always shittenope, northern lights was perfection>>108366605I think he means shite which is a wonderful Irish/Scottish emphatic anouciation of the word shit, also if you are the last anon here using a cloud spellecher note that it archives all your posts here to the cloud and ties it to your session and possibily your other cookies, IP, browser ID and other metadata. Turn it off.
>>108363546meta is just that good.youre missing out
>>108366934>I think he means shite which is a wonderful Irish/Scottish emphatic anouciation of the word shit, yeah, a thirdie> also if you are the last anon here using a cloud spellecher note that it archives all your posts here to the cloud and ties it to your session and possibily your other cookies, IP, browser ID and other metadata. Turn it off.what?
>>108367011>what?I think he means stuff like the LanguageTool extension. Although that one allows self-hosting, but it's probably more hassle than it's worth. Browsers already have basic spellcheck built-in, from what I can see.
>>108366421Google was pretty good from 2010-2014ish with an ad block. Google images used to actually work too, until about 2019. I think technology is over.
>>108363546Jews
>>108367206Nah, it was the Iranians.
>>108363546The problem is they replaced direct string matching with "vector search" which converts your search query into a set of "features" and it searches for entries with similar features instead of what you actually typed. However, you have absolutely no control over what these features are. This is also why modern search engines show you infinite results with decreasing relevance
>>108367249I blame the Irish
>>108367206>>108367249it was the indians. unironically the head of financing at google and the head of google search when they shat up google search so they could serve more ads were both indian
>>108367340is that why when you try to google like lesbian porn it shows troons for some reason?
>>108367361Shabbos goyjeets
I don't want to talk about this because it makes me angry.
>>108363966That's the whole point. AI can read the top 100 Google search results in just a few seconds so that I don't have to.
>using +"word" will only return pages that actually contain "word"ah the good old days when search engines were a tool and not an AI designed to ignore your intentions and try and sell you sponsored product instead.

there nothing to search for, most websites are dead now
