Tired of the hivemind? Here’s your prescribed sanity dose:

It’s a preference curve, not a law of physics. Some genres need deviation.

>Chi-Fi isn’t magic.
Great value, yes. Immune to qc issues and hype cycles? Nah.

>Graphs are not sound.

>TWS

>once the battery dies they become complete and utter e-waste that costed way too much for how long those little batteries lived

It's that simple. Is it less practical than getting TWS? Yes. Does it have better longevity for the things I spend my hard earned money on? Absolutely, and that's the true selling point. When I spend money on something, I want this something to serve me for a long time. TWS has more drawbacks than positives in the long run and feels like a waste of money.

Just got my first IEM's but I have a few questions. First the tips that it came with barely seem to fit and most didn't fit at all. I could only get the largest size to squeeze on and I really had to force it. Is that normal? Why did they send so many that won't even fit them? The little silicon circle is half the size of the iem thing it's supposed to go around I have no idea how I would get it to fit. Are you supposed to use some sort of special stretching tool?

Second How do I know which one is right and which one is left? All they have is a blue and red band nothing I can see that says which side is which?
>>
>>108373608
>Are you supposed to use some sort of special stretching tool?
nah. just have to work it with your fingers.
>which one is right and which one is left
they're the same
>>
>>108373633
>they're the same
You guys are the experts here but how can that be? There's always a right and left side, do I just have to play one of those left right sound test videos to figure out which is which?
>>
>>108373639
not for tips, anon.
>>
>>108373661
Yeah sorry guess I should have clarified I meant for the cable but I figured it out. Wow these sound pretty good. Just have some random video game music on but so far it's a lot better than I was expecting. My last earphones were probably back when portable cd players were a thing.
As I feared though the cable it came with is too short. Can you recommend any cheap brands I can find on amazon that aren't shit? I don't want to spend more than 30 or 40 dollars but I need something that has at least 5-6 feet in length.
Oh also is tuning a thing like with headphones? I'm using the Peace app to tune my headphones but I don't know a lot about it so I'm just using one of the preset settings they have for my brand. Will it have ones for IEM's as well or will I just have to fuck around with it myself? How good are they out of the box should I need to do much?
>>
>>108373677
enjoy your Waner 2s, glad you like them. for your cable situation, it might be best to use a type-c extension cable for the dongle you will inevitably buy.
don't even worry about EQ for now. probably not even necessary for you at all, really.
>>
>>108373677
Any linsoul cables below $30 are good, some have memory others don't, read reviews on microphonics, and just be sure the pins match your iems. I'm using Tripowin C-01 on my Novas, they are $20 USD and perfect for my use case.

Thanks, I already have an AMP I use with my headphones that I can plug the IEM's into. But the amp is a bit away and the cable it came with just barely reaches me. I got these IEM's because sometimes I just don't feel like wearing the monster headphones and want something less bulky. It's kind of nice to have sound without my head being squished.
I was looking at this cable on amazon does it seem like it will be decent? https://a.co/d/03HtD2zb

Another newfag IEM question, can eartips really make a big difference in sound? I tried the smaller ones that came with mine and I swear it feels like the bass was cut in half. I thought it was just whatever fit in your ear better but do I have to shop around for special tips too?
>>
>>108374407
> can eartips really make a big difference in sound?
Yes. Insertion depth will change and other (much more insignificant) factors will also change treble behavior.
>I thought it was just whatever fit in your ear better but do I have to shop around for special tips too?
Get whatever fits the most comfortable and also doesn't sacrifice seal like the smaller ones did.

It's impossible to use IEMs at the gym or running because the seal makes you hear your own heart beat and breathing and it feels like shit.
>>
Can't believe me and foxtismo live in the same town and I've seen him on the sub.
>>
>>108374407
>can eartips really make a big difference in sound?
yes, very much so
>seal
the make-or-break factor - tips should seal well, but since every human has different anatomy, there's no rule which set of tips will or will not make a proper seal, although at least you get different sizes of tips included with your pos
without seal you get no bass, which results in shouty, ear-grating tonality, since there's no bass to balance out the shout
>insertion depth
it can change the tuning quite significantly, in general deep fit smoothens out the treble and adds midbass, while shallow fit makes treble less refined due to resonances, but also makes the sound less bloated and more open
>bore size
an eartip is in fact an acoustic element that can change the sound with its shape, in this case the size of the bore changes acoustic impedance and makes the sound more bassy (narrow bore) or brighter (wide bore) with everything in between, it's a general rule but doesn't apply to every pos
>bore shape
some eartips have certain traits that let them tweak the sound even further, for example SpinFits have a resonator that makes the bass sound more dynamic, Moondrop Spring Tips have ribbed bores that smooth out excess peaks in the treble, Tang Sancai tips have similar ribs plus they're textured to alleviate in-ear pressure when using unvented pos, Pentaconn Coreir tips have metal bores, DUNU tips have smooth bores for unaltered sound etc.

>>

Just like how you can simulate an IPS with an OLED by adding visual filters to simulate backlight bleed and poor motion clarity, you can simulate a planar with a DD by using EQ to add ear rape and other VSTs to add 4% THD.

You got a wrong lesson from that video. Not everyone likes hd800 and not everyone likes valhalla and now we can see why. Because they literally don't sound the same to different people. You can do better than any physically existing headphone/IEM and you don't even need in-ear measurements for that, since the peaks you hear during a sweep align with the peaks in the in-ear measurements.

>This changes everything
>You need to get your HRTF measured, not to mention that it changes over time as your ears age, that's why CIEMs need a reshell every 2-3 years
>Can be matched at one pinpoint location, move the headphone like a few millimeters and everything collapses
>Used headphones of the same driver type (HD600 and 800)
>The illusion is broken the moment your ears touch something inside, or you hear that the difference in the acoustic isolation from any outside sounds
>Not to mention THD differences between different model
This changes nothing.

I've only listened to music on my Sennheiser HD600 headphones for the last 10 years.
Now I need something in ear or closed back to take to work.
What could please my autism? Needs to be neutral, flat, good clarity.

Is the aliexpress anniversary sale global? I can't find discounts in my shithole
Also, does the fucking Iran war impact the shipping from China?

Has anyone used a PSP or a Vita as a DAP? I wonder how good the internal DAC would be. I don't think either of these can power a dongle, right?

I'd rather ask here than /sqt/
Do I need a particular kind of subwoofer to match my speakers? I'd assume not since it's just a low end rumbling machine there's nothing to tune there but figured I'd ask.
Do subwoofers have to be matched to my speakers somehow?
>>
>>108396238
