>>108389116It's like he de-aged 10 years.... Amazing.
>>108389075AI slop gaming, this is the last straw. What are they thinking? People are already fed up with the uncanny valley look of image and video diffusion spam, nobody will use this once the novelty tapers off.I'm glad that the deconstruction of this trend is already well on it's way.
My personal prediction is that we'll eventually end up with fully AI generated frames, not just frame generation motion smoothing but rather the games will "render" controlnet inputs and depth maps to models that will be trained for the intended art style for the game. This will also allow nvidia and AMD to jew vram even harder because they can ship quantized models and the outputs will still be higher quality than upscaled raster/raytraced images.I also expect there will be some open source implementations that allow you to do this with older games and custom models. Maybe Valve will put it into gamescope and use it as a selling point for steam deck (2?) and steam machine.
>>108389340isn't that what this is?
>>108389075i’m excited for the future and it makes redditors extremely mad so i’m all for it
>>108389340It's similar but the game engine is still rending full models textures etc currently, it's more akin to what I see being implemented down the road for "legacy" games but it's a single model from nvidia right now rather than a per game style tuned model. What I specifically imagine in the future is the game engine will not actually be rendering the sort of graphics they are now with high poly models that are fully textured and so on, but rather something more akin to stick figures like Open Pose uses https://openposeai.com/ you will still have things like collision and physics running underneath but the actual graphics output I see being entirely AI generated.Maybe a good comparison would be what the GTA 3D era remakes did where they are still running the original games in the original engine underneath, but then using unreal engine to render all the graphics, but I think we're moving towards that being the norm and AI rendering the frames instead of unreal.
video game graphics peaked here
>>108389450This, depth and normal control nets are absolutely necessary for spatial cohesion.
>>108389531DLSS 5 ON
>>108389129looks like shitif it just sharpened the picture and improved resolution and detail, that would be one thing. But it's clearly just changing her appearance, giving her more makeup, lipstick, changing the shadows and shape of her face, darkening the roots of her hairthe fact that it's predictive means it just normalizes people's appearances to what it predicts. Fake blondes with lipstick and hollow cheeks are more common in the dataset, so it turns the character into that despite the creator's intent being different. Who wants this?
>>108389633Excellent cringekino, would play and send my sides into orbit the entire time.
>>108389633>stays faithful to the artistic integrity blah blahhahahaha
>>108389075As longs as it stays OPTIONAL, we all know it won't.
>>108389894They already started force ray tracing so it's only a matter of time before forced DLSS/FSR.
>>108389633Kek
>>108389894>>108389908There will probably eventually be a point to where the underlying rendering will become super basic like how when you see how those citizen watch systems in china or self driving cars see the world. It'll just be colored squares and shit so you can't disable it without totally breaking rendering.
>>108389075I don’t like it. I just get this sick feeling when I look at ai generated stuff. I’d rather have talented artist create video game graphics and assets. Unfortunately I do feel like with ai going forward, we will see more slop in movies, games, videos, music- media in general. Simply because it’s cheaper and less time consuming. I think people will still create stuff traditionally, but it’ll become increasingly rare. I could be completely wrong though. Who knows?
>>108390008I think those artists will do the work that is used to train the model on a per game basis, all of that amazing concept art they do that most of the time never gets seen unless the games popular enough to put out an art book will be what the games actually look like instead of having halfassed 50% of the details gone versions of the concepts.
>>108390083It will get better over time, realistically we're only a few years into this tech being viable and look at how much better it's gotten since DLSS1 already, look at how much image generation has improved since dalle-mini's swirl faces.Traditionally rendered games will end up as a niche novelty like indie pixel art games within 5~10 years I feel and much like GPUs moved from fixed function pipelines to programmable shaders I expect we will see consumer cards shifting more into dedicated AI silicon being the majority of the chip.
>>108390008ai will most likely become something akin to factory-made stuff like ikea furniture. truly skilled masters who can create unique stuff with their hands will still be appreciated but they'd be more of an exception.
>>108390148I don't disagree, but I do not like it either.

>>108390195Don't get me wrong I mostly play retro games and early 2000s pc games myself, I'm just saying where I think things are headed based off of the technology that's been rolling out. Biggest appeal to me would be applying it to "legacy games" to have anime versions of ugly but good gameplay western games.>>108390205All of their money is in AI, this is them showing the investors that they're doing something tangible with AI, thus green line will go up, especially if they can sell it to hollywood.
>>108390228>where I think things are headed based off of the technology that's been rolling outIn retrospect, nvidia was pretty open about the direction since early dlss days, they did talk about wanting progressively more of the renderer to be replaced by AI inference. It just kept feeling way too far-fetched because most tech until now actually relied on the ground truth of the normal raster renderer in some way; pretty much everything RT had raster fallbacks, all the bullshit framegen still interpolated real frames. I sort of expected it to go to somewhere like video i-frames, rendering really high quality scenes and AI-bullshitting the interpolation between them with player inputs accounted for. Guess we might see raster graphics actually just overall regress instead because all they need to be is a temporally stable wireframe for AI to draw over.
>>108389075Why does it make up details? I thought DLSS was supposed to be all about upscaling in real time, not making your experience feel AI generated
>>108390228>All of their money is in AIi dont understand how this is even a thing when every enthusiast and the normies in their circle of influence have an aversion to anything AI and for good reason too because all the products are literal garbage
The tech is cool but completely tastelessIf they can let Devs fine-tune the output using some equivalent to lora training then it may be okayBut stylistically it looks like stable diffusion 1.5 base model with an Indian prompting it
>>108389669>Who wants this?Haven't you seen the generic appearance mods that get made for every female character in gaming? Or the skyrim mods that make everyone look like uncanny supermodels or anime blobs? As usual it's down to indians and gooners.

The nok-meme examples I've seen look like a mixed bag but there's certainly a ton of potential.I get the ai seething because ai bad, but does nobody remember how shit dlss 1.0 was? And now dlss4.5 is so good amdtrannies are buying up the world's rope supply. It'll obviously be something you can turn off and almost certainly be something users can adjust in some way. Eventually it'll be akin to Reshade where you can radically change a game's art style or just make the shadows a little nicer or anything in between.I for one can't wait to hear about western developers killing themselves because they can't make ugly women anymore.

Actually reading https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/nvidia-dlss-5-delivers-ai-powered-breakthrough-in-visual-fidelity-for-games I don't think this replaces the lighting pass or has any spatial awareness re/ the lights present in the 3d scene.
