I like to browse, read, watch and shitpost for 30-60min in bed, before I sleep. I mostly use my phone, it's pretty comfy with newpipe & browser + adblock. I use my Thinkpad sometimes, especially for media, but I feel like both options aren't optimal. Do you think a Tablet is worth it? Whats your bed-""computer"" of choice, /g/?

Stolen M1 macbook air. It has good speakers and doesn't burn me when resting against my bare penis.

My old ThinkPad gets extremely hot when I use it in bed so hot that it literally feels like the bedding might catch fire
How should I deal with this?

Easily some arm laptop. Not tablet. I'd tell you a macbook, but no one wants to hear it.

I'm posting this in bed on my M1 MBA.
This thing has completely ruined my sleep hygiene, computers don't belong in bed.

Use a laptop pad, or just something stiff that holds the laptop from below. Laptops usually overheat on beds because the soft surface plugs ventilation.

>>108395941
I haven't tried this idea myself so I can't recommend it for sure, but I think you could try installing a lightweight linux distro on a cheap chromebook. Else just find a cheap tablet imo.
>>
>>108395941
Get a tablet with a bed holder. It's super fucking comfy and you don't have to hold it in your hands.

Open it up and clean it out and change the thermal paste, run it on a lower performance mode, put it on something solid so the vents get airflow. I'm always on my X230 in bed, right now sitting at 45 CPU temp although it does get up into the high 60s at times. It used to be much worse on Windows 7.

I bought a 10 inch chromebook. It's actually pretty fine for that sort of shit. 4gb of ram. It's really only good for coding and youtube. It's perfect for flights and bed stuff.

i lie in bed with a Precision mobile workstation that weighs almost 6 pounds on my stomach. but i have this lapdesk thing. It's also hot and usually is around 55-65 without doing anything, up to 90 when I'm pushing the quadro with LLM's or playing Valheim

>>108395941
My thinkpad T14 served me well in bed for years. It doesnt get too hot when just browsing or watching shit as long as its using hardware acceleration. For gayming in bed i set it on a 1" three ring binder that still has my sociology class handouts from 14 years ago. For my old 15" gaming laptop i needed two binders to fit it and I didnt dare ever use it on a bed without.

Instead of one of that, get yourself a bed desk woth actual legs on the sides. Unless you are modbidly obese, you will be able to fit under it leaving a gap begween your body and desk and won't notice the heat at all.

My bed computer is the LG Gram 17 from 2020. 10th gen i7, 16GB DDR4, 1tb SSD running Omarchy. It was a Thinkpad T14S Gen 1 before that, but the Gram was given to me by a friend because "Windows is running so slow on this thing" and it weighs the same as my T14S but with a larger screen, that's brighter, and 16:10 (2560x1600) AND the fans run through the hinge rather than the bottom so it can sit directly on the bed without overheating and blanket fluff getting in the vents. It's my go-to for watching stuff when I'm trying to fall asleep, or when I just want to lay in bed and watch stuff. One caveat: I do use a USB-C->3.5mm cord with a built in DAC to plug in headphones (though it does have a normal aux jack) because the speakers are on the bottom of the laptop so they'll be against the bed and they sound like shit in the best of conditions.

I had been using the Tab S series since the Tab S2 and quite frankly, they just kept getting bigger and more expensive with an emphasis on the larger models being more feature-rich, so I've given up on them. I stopped at the S8 which I find loses charge faster than my S6, but I do love the speakers and the screen.

I use a chromebook now, some 16" Asus monster I got at Best Buy, it folds and has a touch screen but also a full keyboard and that delicious 4:3 screen, and its cheaper than the fagbook NEO
>>
>>108395941
I have a legion go 2 and the stand makes it easier to put on the bed or just like on a bedside laptop table
i hook my keyboard to it and can effectively do stuff with it all day long while lying down, its pretty comfy desj

for me, i've tried some ipads and my whole family basically uses iphones, but when i compare them to samsung screens, it's just so hard for me to digest shifting away from samsung anything else, the screen on Samsungs devices are genuinely such a pleasurable experience, and i believe the screen is the most important factor for any handheld device because you're gonna be looking at it any time you're using the device.
and i also like the android&one UI combination alot, it gives alot of freedom and it's fairly responsive with support for 7ish? years.
the last thing is obv i have a samsung phone(s23U) and i use samsung notes, some people like it some don't, but i love it and the fact that it comes free is always nice, just like the samsung S pen which is miles ahead than the apple's one(which you also need to buy seperately, on top of having to get a notetaking app).
but i am an agreement that the sizes are getting a bid ridiculous, i think the plus size is perfect but the Ultra seems stupid which is why i just wanna give it a go and see how it is.
i haven't looked ah chromebooks and asus to be frank, as i already have a laptop and just want a tablet with a stylus, and i was always under the impression that samsung makes the best android tablets.

This is literally what tablets are best at, especially if you like drawing and/or get a keyboard case that's easy to attach or detach, pretty much a slimmer and more portable laptop with a keyboard that's also light and can be removed with ease, also they're cheaper than 2-in-1 laptops, and you have a laptop already, so I'd definitely go for a tablet, at least to try it.

I currently use my Thinkpad, thinking about getting a Linux tablet but I'm not sure there are any good ones. Phone doesn't work well for 4chan and VNs.

Anyone here tried something like XReal or Viture glasses?
I wouldn't know what to hook them up to though. Something like those Raspberry Pi all-in-one keyboards maybe, but those don't have a battery.
