>Vance just wanted to make the most out of his college experience under a totalitarian regime, and if that meant hacking into the university to assign himself a hot female roommate, then so be it. Cars are absolute privacy nightmares. Is there really no way to stop them? What do rich or important people (like presidents) and evil people who should be afraid (like jews) use to avoid getting tracked like that?
People on the internet say "just remove the TCU/comms unit/etc." but apparently some cars stop working if you do while others have that unit strictly integrated so you can't do it.

Slow day, so let's make do with teardown and reverse engineering of ... some lego:
https://hackaday.com/2026/03/18/teardown-of-a-2026-lego-smart-brick/
>Freeing the main PCB from its plastic enclosure also ended up being fairly destructive, but gave the first good look at its guts. Courtesy of Redditor [PsychologicalYak4619] who previously did a teardown and analysis of such a brick, many details are already available. There’s a separate Bluetooth 5.4 SoC marked EM9305 from EM Microelectronics as well as a 16 Mb Winbond SPI Flash memory chip.

>People on the internet say "just remove the TCU/comms unit/etc." but apparently some cars stop working if you do while others have that unit strictly integrated so you can't do it.
Depends on the car. When you remove modules, you can code them out so you don't get errors or other bullshit bothering you. Cars don't stop working when you remove those modules, you just get annoying errors saying its broken. I had a comms/phone module die in my previous car, so I removed the module and coded it out. You can do a lot of coding on a car from home with a USB to OBD cable and the right software.

Anyway, just buy an old car if you want to be really simple. I was getting around in a 1989 Mercedes for a long time and the only computer in it was the ECU. Everything else was controlled with just relays and switches.

About a year ago, some anon used to jockey beats here. I think he called his thing something like /cyb/sec/pri/ 404 Radio. I don't know when exactly, but he and other music posters went silent, and it's just not the same since.

I've been thinking of building a /cyb/ web radio - a proper one, built on top of HLS, with collaborative integration so anyone may pitch their /cyb/ songs through a web UI or an IRC channel where people could up/down vote songs.

Say I eventually get a beta out - anyone think this general has enough wind in its sails to keep it up, or even use it?

Snow Crash started out as one of the funniest books I've ever read, but near the end there was a Tower of Babel part that dragged on for so long I put the book down and ended up getting too busy with school to pick it back up. I've been meaning to finish it for years.
I can't imagine calling the book in general boring.

Why yes, I did post this just to bump the thread, how could you tell?
>>
>>108420746
Neal Stephenson has always had a problem with finishing a book, even his "short" stories are long.

>>108402634
Snow Crash is fun, just a little bit too long. Diamon Age is very different, and I am not entirely sure the plot really makes sense.
He also wrote a few "short" stories such as "Hack the Spew" and "Jipi and the Paranoid Chip", links are in the FAQ. These are also worth reading.
>>
>>108420746
Snow Crash drags in the middle because a lot of meandering, inconsequential shit happens while Stephenson turns his novel into a textbook. Things pick up towards the end, however, and the conclusion is very satisfying.
>>
>>108418423
Not sure what happened. Also many of the /cyb/ related Internet radios fell silent about the same time. We still have the music list though.
Be the change you want to see, give it a try.
>>
>>108404186
Normies should just use older cars with no cellular modem. That also comes with the benefit of no WiFi and Bluetooth modules which will make tracking even more difficult.

The biggest problem that you can't easily stop is flock cameras, so you should plan your route around those if you can. In bigger western cities you're kind of fucked anyway.
>>
>>108421383
in most europe cities those cars are also banned because muh CO2 emissions
>>
>>108404186
There's no way to stop them.
The /cyb/ riding guide is simple, get a cheap chink motorcycle with a price point so low it can't afford anything other than the bare basics. And modify the fuck out of it.
As for normies, let them be. The car is a cage for a reason. Normals like their boxes.
>>
>>108421503
Bullshit. Its just older diesels that are banned. Also you can even get a 2016 car without cellular modem, especially cheaper ones. All cars since 2017 have a cellular modem because of the ecall requirement.

Just a reminder that Hackaday deliver weekly security news summaries:
>This Week In Security: Linux Flaws, Python Ownage, And A Botnet Shutdown
https://hackaday.com/2026/03/20/this-week-in-security-linux-flaws-python-ownage-and-a-botnet-shutdown/
>All Linux kernels since Linux 4.11 are vulnerable. If your Linux distribution enables AppArmor, and quite a few do, you’ll want to be updating as soon as fixes are available from your distribution maintainers. On systems with untrusted users, such as shared environments, VPS server environments, and the like, this is even more critical and urgent. Even on single-user systems, vulnerabilities like these allow other exploits, like the Python attack below, mechanisms to elevate their access and persistence.
>StepSecurity reports on a new campaign to infect Python projects on GitHub with a complex malware that, once deployed, appears to be yet another crypto and login stealer.
>Apparently on a roll, Qualys also discovered that the Ubuntu Snapd system — the service responsible for managing packages and services in the Snap format — allows for privilege escalation. The Ubuntu report is low on details, stating only that improper handling of “certain operations” in a snap package tmp directory could cause systemd-tmpfiles to recreate the files, allowing replaying commands and gaining “escalated privileges”.
And more.
>>

This reads like someone's study notes. It looks like my own notes that I make when I learn random stuff on the internet.
That's fine when you did read the source material and just need a quick reminder when re-reading, but for someone who doesn't know much, it's pretty unintelligible or hard to follow.
I suggest either fixing it (by filling gaps, reorganizing, etc.) so that a regular person can follow its contents, or removing it from the OP altogether.

https://9to5linux.com/tails-7-6-privacy-focused-linux-distro-released-with-automatic-tor-bridges
>The monthly Tails releases continue with Tails 7.6, which introduces support for automatic Tor bridges, a feature that lets the Tor Connection assistant ask about Tor bridges based on your region. According to the devs, this feature uses the same technology as Tor Browser’s connection assistant.
>Tails 7.6 also replaces the KeePassXC password manager with GNOME Secrets due to its simpler interface and better integration with the GNOME desktop environment, which Tails uses by default. GNOME Secrets can automatically unlock your previous KeePassXC database, so you won’t lose your passwords.

No, Tails is not a general purpose system, it is made for a very specific scenario where you go in and complete your task and then wipe down the system back to a safe and non-compromising state.
If your threat model is state actors, you go with an airgapped solution.
For everyday use, a well maintained mainstream Linux without drama queens is best, where you minimize what is installed and close as many ports as you can.

I have a question.
I remember often reading that the browser shouldn't be personalized/customized because it harms privacy and anonymity. However, the LibreWolf fork of Firefox website mentions customizing like there is nothing wrong with it, despite purportedly being a privacy-focused fork.
So what is it? Is customizing actually fine or are the LibreWolf people in the wrong?
>>
>>108469583
>I remember often reading that the browser shouldn't be personalized/customized because it harms privacy and anonymity.
There is some truth in that. It depends on how likely the it is to be detected by a website. This usually applies to things like extensions which can greatly increase your uniqueness, but there are settings that can be detected as well.

>However, the LibreWolf fork of Firefox website mentions customizing like there is nothing wrong with it, despite purportedly being a privacy-focused fork.
The guy behind LibreWolf is a retard. He won't even let you enable the FF setting for always-private mode because he thinks it hurts privacy (which is completely false, it's one of the things FF has countermeasures against), but then has other random settings that make LibreWolf users stand out like a glow stick.

Redditors like to mix the issues of privacy and fingerprinting. You should be using your browser according to your uses and preferences. So fucking what if you are getting finger printed from using 1 extension more other than ublock? Then boo fucking hoo, cry me a river, it's not like everyone can see what you are doing inside of your computer. If you try to blend in, then you are making the problem worse and so everyone else that deviates from the script will stick out like a sore thumb even more. If you change your user agent to chrome, then congratulations, you just contibuted to the google monopoly.
I swear, the people fearing fingerprintjng are a cult.

That is what Anonymous tried, now they are all gone. Lots of accidents and suicides, no doubt, but they remain gonners.
And to achieve what you want you need to udnerstand a bit more about the dysfunctional parts of societies that all rebel movies ignore, such as how Eps. could live the high life and abuse girls for decades. That case has tentacles into even small countries and the same mechanisms try to shield the career criminal politicians from the fate they deserve. For what we should be talking about is how to hack entire countries, and let us take Iran as an example. The US and Israel do not have the same plans for Iran, which is why Trump talks about how desperate the regime is, while the regime hysterically denies this, all while Israel is bumping off Iranians in droves. And I am not talking /pol/ stuff here, it is instead how power plays out. Meanwhile, the press is deep in TDS.
More often things are about stupidity rather than evil and adhocracies rather than conspiracies.

Been working on a hybrid collection of single-purpose devices to replace my computer and smart phone, to this end I've been doing experimentation on a number of different types of computer replacements, RPi 2W0, ESP32, arduino
the plan is to have a set of homemade devices to perform specific tasks and not one thing more than that.
for music an ESP32 mp3 player for mobile and a dedicated CD player for home
for a computer a RPi built into a portable DVD player with a keyboard I actually like and a custom linux from scratch implementation that runs faster than tar in antarctica
retro gaming emulation is bullshit, I have the old console and I'm modding them
a lovely e-reader, either build from an ESP32 or a repurposed kobo
for phone calls I'm going to turn an ESP32 into a cell phone (so I control the software) with a sim card module that has a physical switch, so when I'm not using it or don't want calls I can literally just cut it off. I'm going to build this into an old-fashioned home phone with a receiver and buttons and everything
for home development I'm going to build a special purpose machine with an insane number of GPIO and multiple forms of connectivity

the piece of resistance is the pip-boy style cyberdeck, it's going to be slim, wrist mounted, and not make me look like a unibomber. I intend for people to see it and think "oh a smart watch"

how to wipe a drive in a way that is truly unrecoverable?

fellas, It brings me great joy to tell you all that I've finally gotten over my lifelong crossdressing fetish. My 10+ years of pics have already been rounded up and deleted, and the recycle bin has been emptied. now I just need a method of disk cleaning capable of scrambling the magnets inside enough to properly dispose of the "evidence."

I wouldn't have been so paranoid about this before in the past but I was reading about this whole incident here the other day thinking "yeah, I'd probably kill myself if something like this happened to me" so I really wanna do this to finally have that peace of mind and be done with it.
>>
>>108509993
power drill and a big ass neodynium magnet will do the trick, desu you only need one but if you wanna go full tinfoil use both, first open the drive up and pull out the platters, just doing this alone makes the data unrecoverable for like 99% of people because you definitely damaged the drive to do this, those arms are sensitive and you almost certainly fucked one up, swapping does no good either because the chipset on the harddrive is needed for data recovery, the remaining folks have special equipment to fix and/or transplant the necessaries
so after you dismantle the things you'll find some powerful neodynium magnets VERY powerful (because they're used to move the arms really fast) take one of those and just rub it all over the platter, really get it in there
finally take a power drill and shatter the fucking things, or a hammer, pmuch anything that'll actually physically destroy the platters, unless you have the nuclear launch codes or some shit no one is going to put in the effort to try to rebuild a broken platter

Does anyone know any good linux/tech privacy or privacy-adjacent forums? I think stuff like that is the best way to stay informed (word of mouth) especially with stuff going on right now...
I used to be pretty active on SizeofCat Cafe but that got obliterated a few months ago, but I liked what they had going on there, lots of smart individuals there.

>>108510450
hi other anon here. I like this idea but is there another less destructive option that keeps the drive intact? me personally I'm quitting gooning and am looking to convert my former portable gooning laptop of choice into something that runs or Linux or something idk.

because it's funny and you really only need ccleaner to wipe the free disk space after you encrypt the entire hard drive.

I am reading the allegedly leaked code from anthropic.

after carrying out a manual code review on
main.tsx
I can say with eighty percent confidence this code was released to the public on purpose by the same organization.

in the worst case scenario: this is a small manufactured parody artifact that does not work. A mock source code. The team sprinkled some values and atractive concepts to generate an illusion. Conveniently, there are missing key components for the construction of a production build (the code got leaked but not the package.json, the tsconfig.ts or the bun, documents that exist inside every typescript project. A super convenient situation for an industrial accident).

best case scenario, the code is a very early version of an undisclosed anthropic MCP artifact, or an unreleased primitive prototype that Anthropic do not care to lose in exchange for some free publicity in the educational sector. If something similar to this hypothetical scenario is what is actually happening, the source code could possibly present some valuable insights regarding how the organization understood early MCP.

there is a giant json encoded in base64 at the end of the file and makes no sense the thing there. Nobody does that. Ridiculous shit on a production release. Somebody took the string and put it there because gave the illusion of meaning (seems to be the json definition of the sourcemap).

I will keep reading this thing.
