The size of distfiles is around 600gb and its not even a properly archived package, instead you can pull vim from gentoo mirrors it will unpack and download deps for it from external sites like gayhub. Archiving all this and then waiting for compilation is pretty much pointless when you can use arch (if systemd becomes a warden, then artix) for everything and the mirror is 95gb in full size (incl. multilib).
