Android a shit. IOS a shit. Go GNU/Linux and a dumbphone for your mobile needs.

No, I value having a positive non-zero amount of privacy.
>>
>>108407932
You do all of your computing in pants?

>>108407979
Post sensitive content via signal.
>>
>>108407907
what is this machine and how do i get one like this
>>
>>108407979
the thing with dumbphones is there's a clear line where the entire thing is a tracking device for the phone networks vs the smartphone world where you play whack a mole but there's a million vectors for leaks
>>
>>108408172
GPD Micropc 2 N300
>>
>>108408199
is it safe? is it well made?
i've been looking for something like this but just kind of assumed it didn't exist since everyone is content pretending apple doesn't track them if they toggle the switch off
>>
>>108408224
The Windows is cracked and activation will go away after formatting. Be sure to download drivers. On Linux everything works fine except for touchscreen which is rotated (display is fine but touches are registered on opposite sides of the screen). I just turned it off instead of fucking around with config files. The build quality is ok. Doesn't blow up. Don't know about their gaming line with Ryzen. I got GPD MicroPC 1&2 only.
>>
>>108408293
idc about windows
i'd rather install bsd i better check that it'll have drivers for everything
>>
>>108408326
Xubuntu and Ubuntu MATE I can confirm.

>Post sensitive content via signal.
Signal is gay, session is better

>>108408190
Yes but the most intrusive tracking imo is still possible on dumbphones if you have a SIM in them
>>
>>108408666
yeah well the network is tracking me just the same if i have a smartphone with a sim
point is if i don't want to be tracked it's best not to even have the device
i know for sure that anything on the dumbphone is visible but it's difficult to be sure signal on a smartphone is hidden from google/apple
>>
>>108408703
That you're using signal (or any other app) is easily hidden by using a custom ROM without GPS, getting it off f-droid and no push notifications. However any adversary barely gets anything by knowing you use signal. What annoys me is that people think they'll be private when they use the devices that encrypt none of their conversations. It's like screaming from the rooftops so nobody secretly listens in.
>>
>>108408738
i simply don't allow this opaque machine to have access to anything i'd rather keep private and a dumbphone makes that line very clear
if i write something on a piece of paper i clearly understand (it could be stolen or if in public a picture taken or whatever; also it must be destroyed or it could be taken from the trash; etc.)
if i write something in a window on my openbsd machine i clearly understand the security guarantees (disk encryption but if the disk is stolen the changed bits may be obvious; also mitm on the bootloader if the disk can be stolen; there's various risks if somebody with access to the machine could run code on it; etc.)
if i call or text someone i assume verizon wireless has full metadata and the contents of the text and in principle could record the call, so there's really no privacy but i clearly understand that
i have been completely unable to get a clear statement on the security guarantees offered by any smartphone. usually it's just "this magic button makes it 100% secure" which is never how that works.

Then just give your phone less data? Even better, encrypt it and decrypt it only offline, then reboot.
