does anyone else got the feeling that google shows worse results recently? sometimes I search for a webpage or a video exactly by name and it won't show up

Nobody is gonna read this slop shit

I use brave search and it's not bad, but I don't even do searching that much anyways, most of the stuff I open is direct links from other sites I use or mainstream big sites like wikipedia, fandom, etc. Try out startpage, duckduckgo, brave, searxng.

it's been consistently becoming less useful for 20 years now. The point is to show you less and less relevant information so you search and click around more and get served more ads. They also do this to control the flow of information. They want to make sure you only get information from the official channels. Everything else is off the 1st page and no one looks past that anyway. In fact google will only give you a couple pages' worth of of results now. The pages to up to 43 but they are just results from the same few sources over and over again.

By this time literally everyone is dependent on google from using it all their lives so they can get away with it. Normal people are never gonna use a different search engine.

They definitely serve results based on what you've already searched. I got a new work laptop that was 100% clean and searched up a couple of documents from a very specific project that has been going on for years. In my next searches, the top results were inexplicably related to that project even if it wasn't even remotely relevant to the search. I'm guessing it becomes less obvious the more you search and the more data points it gains. But it really does want to create a sort of custom informational reality for you that's heavily biased to what you're already familiar with. Another user with a different search history will see different results for the same search terms. This is the same reality bending shit that causes ai psychosis.

if google's ai is so great then why doesn't it filter out stuff like bestiality

I used to search open directories on google. I doubt thats possible now.

and also wrong. Sometimes I search a video on youtube literally by name, I know the video's name and I search for it, and get unrelated results instead. It's wild because my video has 200k views and youtube shows you instead videos with a few hundred views in hindi instead?
>>
>>108408238
what the fuck are you using google for? just chat gpt that shit.
>>
>>108408321
duckduckgo is bad too. startpage is google dummy, and bing and yandex are the devil incarnate
>>
>>108408238
After having used multiple search engines I can confirm that all of them suck now. I wish we had some new web crawler that is anti-SEO.
>>
>>108408238
I stopped using Google when AI became available.

You mean in the last decade? Yeah, and that's intentional. They want you to find their sponsors, not what you actually want

America deserved 9/11

Yeah, but ddg lite is the only search that works in a text browser, so that's something in its favour.

Pajeet takes charge. Company goes downhill. Simple as.
>>
>>108408419
I wouldn't be surprised if this were done purposefully to give the user the feeling that most of his search results are relevant to him, but it does trap you in a little box of positive feedback apart from being offputting as hell
>>
If you have an exact phrase be sure to use quotes.
But yeah it has become dogshit over the years. What it THINKS you want is pushed way more by their retarded algorithms than what is an actual match. That makes it almost impossible to search for something that is close to a popular search but different. And you know what? Youtube search is EVEN WORSE. Sometimes it's almost impossible to find something even though you are searching with the exact video title and using Google to search for it and adding the word youtube in your search works better. Alternatives like duckduckgo don't seem to fare any better. Unironically even AI works better if you just want to know something these days.

Google peaked in the mid 2010s
Some time after that they fired the white guy that oversaw search (and kept it functional+clean) and replaced him with a jeet that rolled back anti-spam preventions and added a lot of ad spots to profitmaxx search

their stock is up considerably. blame capitalism for creating an incentive (for turdskin CEOs and for shit products that make more money.)

This literally happened to a colleague and I today. He told me one of our projects had been implemented at a particular institution so I searched for it.
I found a link to the page on my first generic search on ecosia. Ecosia is so-so in search results so I researched on google with more specific keywords like the exact name of our project and while it had two results related to it it then had a bunch of results that were completely unrelated. Meanwhile I had the actual page I was expecting to see in the results open in the previous tab.
We laughed in awe at the absolute state of jewgle.

Like others have said, it’s been 10+ years that it sucks and just keeps getting worse. It started when they started fucking with the results to “remove bias” aka “add brownoids”.
>>
>>108408238
Wdym Recently? It's been shit since like 2017.
But yes, it's just getting even worse daily, I've been swapping from Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo & Brave search constantly, nothing is good anymore it seems, I legit just browse via the bookmarks that I saved over time, searching shit is fucking worthless now.
