bloated piece of garbage
It's supposed to be an easy GUI for quickly setting up and managing Wine instances.
>>108410635Lutris is also an easy GUI for quickly setting up and managing wine instances and it isn't nearly as bloated as bottles
>>108410658Lutris is tinkertranny garbage, Bottles just works. My only mild gripe with Bottles is that because it's typically shipped as a flatpak it's annoying to create .desktop files for its Windows apps but that will be fixed next version.
>>108410678>buzzword >le it just werks!!!! doesn't matter if it leaks memory like crazy and puts shit you won't need in every single bottlelearn how to use wine instead of using bloated garbage just because UUUUOOOOOH LE GUI TToTT
>>108410635>>108410618Why can't you just run wine <my.exe>? Just put your dlls in the wine folder and double click? I don't make chroots for every Linux package I install, that's crazy.
>>108410658I can't run CSP on Lutris but I can on Bottles.Bottles fits my usecase, Bottles wins.
>>108410658Wasn't the lutris devs having big melties about something? I can't remember just that they were massive faggots.
>>108410748>>108410752>>108410761I just mentioned Lutris because that anon talked about easy GUIs, I don't use it.I can run CSP on wine with winetricks, why the fuck would I make it run under wine AND a flatpak?
>>108410775>I can run CSP on wine with winetricks, why the fuck would I make it run under wine AND a flatpak?Idk man, it works for me. Don't have issues with it and it was a simple setup. I would like to use it on Lutris so I have one less software on my PC but could never get it running, assumed you needed the random dependencies Bottles provides.
>>108410788I regret telling the Windows users to install Linux and wish they would go back.
>108410801Lmao what a bitch
>>108410788CSP runs like absolute dogshit under bottles for me, and I use CSP 1.x, not even 4.x, it's honestly impressive how badly it runs>>108410813>can't even mention a reply correctlytime to go back
Works on my machine.
Recently gave it a go. It seems horribly outdated by now with their documentation suggesting the default and official runner is called Caffe but when you actually launch the software it's something called Soda which is not even mentioned in documentation even though it seems to be years old at this point. Sure you can use Bottles with other runners like GE-Proton which are not outdated like Bottles' own runners but Faugus (UMU) seems to work a lot better out of the box for games imo. I still keep Bottles around but I only have one "Bottle" installed: Kron4ek-wine-staging-tkg which is basically cutting edge non-Proton wine I mostly use for some non-game Windows apps.
>>108410618Why?It werks on my pc, I only use it for FL Studio and besides minor bugs it's fine.
>>108410635playonlinux? what happened to that anyways
>>108410618>bloated piece of garbageYa I hate gnome too
>>108410748I just want an application that does that and also creates a .desktop file and registers in the global search. It should also use the application's .ico.Hmm. Might ask Claude to slop up a script for me since freetards are too retarded to make it.
>>108410944>Can't make a .desktop by himselfAre you retarded?
Technologically inept niggers should be absolutely prohibited from using the word "bloat" tbdesu
>>108410729>UUUUOOOOOH LE GUI TToTTi say this and act like this
>>108410635why the fuck would i need instances of wine
>>108411130To run Windows apps?
Why would you even need a prefix manager? You guys know prefixes are just directories, right?
>>108410618Better than playforlinux and lutrisThe only downside is forcing you to use flatpak. The ability to quickly share bottles is godsend. Also it provide easy way to use proton. But it ahs it's downsides, mainly with wayland integration with gamescope.
>>108411160In a way yes. but some programs require specific environment varibles.Others require different additional commands.Yes, you can mange all yourself but this offer better granular control, also give you the ability to use a single working prefix for multiple similar programs/games.
>>108410618way less bloated than steam
>>108410618>We don't allow YOU insolent swine to decorate our masterpiece UI>We have taken away the ability to do that because we are Gnome>What, we implemented crash code into non Gnome version? >That's their fault for not obeying our whims chuds>Here is our next gen sequel project that we are never going to work on>What do you mean you aren't going to give us money?I stopped when those retards start purposely sabotaging non flatpak version to "teach" people a lesson
Proton-ge + add non-steam game is still the best way I've found to play games on Linux. Always had problems with wine, lutris and bottles.
I prefer it over Lutris personally. I only use Lutris for native Linux software/games that I want sandboxed (I use the lutris flatpak with the sandbox locked down)
Initially I found it better than Lutris but I had problems with it because what it's basically protontricks it packaged differently, and it had issues installing japanese fonts.Heroic and Faugus are better than this
>>108410618you mean bottled
>>108410618why do you give a shit about what other people do with their puter? stop acting like a tranny
What runs pirated Photoshop CS6 best it out of the box?
>>108413462>out of the boxwindows. if manually inputing commands bother you ask chatgpt or claude to make a install.sh for you creating a new wine prefix and installing the necessary dependencies with winetricks https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=25607&iTestingId=116934
>>108410658Lutris is 10x worse than bottles in that metric.
>>108410658Lutris GUI is so bad its actually faster to start it via CLI if you have no idea how to and have to Google it.Terrible piece of shitware
>>108413475I don't mind using the terminal.
>>108410729Fuck off fag, gui is superior to learning a bunch of retarded commands. Some of us have jobs
>>108413475Dont listen to this retard>>108413462Look around there are githubs that install CS6, I would go that route. Photoshop runs okay, I didnt get hardware acceleration working yet.
