If ronald regan hadn't uninstalled jimmy carter's solar panels from the top of the white house,

then maybe today your house would have had solar panels on it to heat the water.

Then you wouldn't have to be taking revenge gas chambering operation baths

or revenge gas chambering operation showers.

Those are solar water heaters, not solar panels.

If solar panels are so great then why did even California end their subsidy program for it over a decade ago? Why did they make it illegal to sell power back into the power grid which would have massively reduced dependence on coal burning plants?

I dunno

Costs dropped a lot, so subsidies aren't really necessary.
>Why did they make it illegal to sell power back into the power grid
Generation companies lobbied against it.

But democrats keep telling me that climate change will end the world in 5 more years. Why would they prioritize power company profits over the planet?

anon, you know climate change is a hoax, they know climate change is a hoax, they know you know that climate change is a hoax, but that freak with the pierced septum? believes it unconditionally and blames Trump and Elon

i feel like a jew for admitting it, but allowing people to sell electricity back to the grid probably negatively impacts power plant operations and maybe even grid stability. power plants have a lot of inertia and take time to ramp up or ramp down output. sunny days means low plant output in the day time, and then a massive upswing in demand as the sun sets. you also have to consider the challenges of financial forecasting, since power plants are private enterprises.

They’ve been resetting that time for years. I don’t recall seeing a single article during Covid celebrating the reduction of fossil fuel usage and the good it did for the environment. Nothing tangible. Climate change discussion is an illness to me. I took a class on it in college and the only takeaway I really had was that we should keep the internal combustion engines going longer instead of get into evs.

Do you have insulation on your hot water tanks? (you can also have the hot water tanks still connected to power to cover any short fall)

It could work with home batteries and vehicle to grid plus some botnet software or just dynamic pricing per minute so that your local software can decide it's worth selling the power when the grid needs it most. I guess a botnet solution where you report your energy supply (stored plus what you are getting and projected to get from solar panels) at all times would be best so you can really safely shutdown an entire power plant at some points during the day. (or go to idle or whatever i dunno)

I hope this shit gets off the ground more so local companies can get their fucking equipment hooked up again here in the netherlands. I am sure there is plenty of unused battery capacity in cars and people will be willing to get home batteries if it pays. A lot of the capacity problems is just peaks around 7pm for example when the sun is already down or low and people are running a wash, charging their car etc. you could easily have the car supply energy (that it bought for cheap from solar during the day) until bedtime and then have it recharge a little bit at like 1.5kW overnight. Like you come home with 85% soc, your washer dryer and your moms hitachi drains it to 75% and then it just charges to like 80% overnight or even from 6-7 if energy is cheap then.

i remember a couple of reports about how having a fraction of vehicles on the roads had no impact at all on...something? emissions? pollution? idk.
climate change scare is all co2 based. you can just look at the absorbtion bands at IR wavelength to figure out that co2 isn't going to do fuck all to global warming. remember when china built that big dam and it slowed the planet rotation? maybe building a bazillion wind turbines and disrupting weather patterns and streams has something to do with why they renamed it from global warming to climate change. which is odd because the world is getting hotter right? well in some places it is. cities aka mass population centers. odd that when people produce 100 w of energy each and consume 100's of watts (recently) on useless shit like computers and tvs that if you cram a thousand of them into an apartment building it warms up a little bit. doesn't matter where the energy comes from its where it goes to that counts.

it doesnt matter if global warming or climate change is a scam because there are so many variables its impossible to figure out anything about it.

My house does have solar panels on it that heat the water.

The United States produces the kind of gas you burn in a home as a byproduct. There is a minimum usage of it that needs to be met, otherwise the sources have to burn it themselves.
If they don't burn it, then it's much worse for the environment on top of it.
That's why in most countries it's called natural gas, we can't just stop it.

hating solar and wind power has to be the most retarded thing rightoids are against.
