how do you pivot to a new language?>have 5 yoe on javascript and react garbage>want to get a job in rust instead
PLOT TWIST:they're replacing your salary, not your job
YC has officially lost the plot and they are straight up poisoning the tech scene. They used to be about finding the next big thing that actually worked but now they are just a factory for overpriced GPT wrappers. It is pathetic to see them fund some random kid who spent two hours on a prompt and call it financial superintelligence. They are basically teaching a whole generation of founders that lying about your tech is the only way to get paid. While real researchers are out here doing the actual hard work to fix models these hype men are just cashing checks for a glorified Excel macro. When this bubble finally pops and everyone realizes these companies have zero original code it is going to be an absolute mess for the rest of us.
>write some really nice code>come back to it months later>shitter juniors have completely destroyed it and turned it into a janky pile of trashhow to cope with the futility of my existence
>>108411822just hard reset to a previous commit and force pushif they want to touch your shit without your permission then they can just create a seperate branch. Tell them to open up an issue and you might eventually get to it if you think their concern is important enough
>>108411845wouldnt be able to, its a billion "features" ago nowthey just do such a shit job of implementing them that the code gets worse and worse over time
>>108411877Maybe you shouldnt have let them become contributors or something. Its too late now, but not letting any joe smoe contribute, or even self-hosting forgejo for work so retards dont touch your shit is a thing
>>108411822>claude analyse the code base and fix all the mistakes made by juniorsits that simple you retard
Got an offer for 30% royalties but only min wage during dev. Do I take it?
>>108411987
>>108411998asshole
>>108412010you werent going to take the contract anyways, thats why you posted it hereI would tell them to go fuck themselves
>>108411576This is a nonsense thought. "Pivoting" to a new programming language takes about a week at most. I guess if you're some react shitter maybe not but if you know C and C++ you know every programming language.
>>108411987Fuck no. You will never make money off royalties or equity with some shitter startup. Real money or git.
>>108412049>1 weeklol maybe for an unc, I can switch languages in a minute because I'm an AI God
>>108412049>hey so we need someone with 3 YOE in rust>and you said all of your experience is in javascript? >mmm sorry youre not a good match, maybe you should try looking for the entry level rust job (that doesn't exist)have you ever had a thought in your life?
>>108411454I got the AI-102 AI Engineer qualification on a whim and it was completely pointless, Microslop had completely changed their AI platform so completely that none of their training materials were relevant anymore. That said, I have used Azure AI Foundry exactly zero times since passing the exam because AI is inherently and completely gay.
>>108412061millennials trying to use zoomer lingo ironically is so cringe
>>108412064this happened to me>job posting for entry level rust, 60k pay, no experience required>apply>so anon how many years of experience do you have with rust>0>interview endslol
>>108412064I have 15 years experience writing C++. I just got a job writing Go which I have never touched before in my life. Git gud.>>108412061Tbh it is this way these days. Basically can learn as you go working with Claude and be shitting out code on day 1 no problem.
>>108412065Don't forget to update your creds in 2 years!
I hate Fridays. It's just too depressing. We need 996 in Europe and death to unproductive boomers who got their jobs for a handshake.>If I work hard enough I will become an animal
I love Fridays. It's just to good.Gonna crack a beer or 7 and play video games while wiggling my mouse every now and then so teams stays green.I love my comfy wfh consultant job, it's completely useless and easy as fuck but people praise my "work" and I can make a comfy living from it.
>>108410772>That should be available in the software portal for one of our automations to kick off and install it for you :)I work in an innovation-focused part of the company. There's a wide range of disciplines being practiced, some by only one or a few people. I very much doubt that it's feasible for the parent company's IT department (in another country) to adequately maintain the huge list of software people use and provide it all with intune. And it prevents experimentation to find something that could actually work better. What I think will happen is that they're going to cuck all the engineers, scientists and experimenters by not providing them the tools they need and not letting them fix it for themselves.I understand why IT admins would not want any retard to have admin rights, but I'm not retarded. I have a CS degree, professional software development experience, and know how to be responsible in regards to usage of and access to company resources. I'm most likely more intelligent and higher educated than every IT admin in the company. If you're gonna treat me like a child and take away my ability to use the machine I need to do my work on to its potential we're gonna have a problem.Surely there must be more granular acces control than just "you can either do anything or nothing"?And isn't it not enough that the company laptop is already full of monitoring spyware? I don't give a fuck if you watch everything I do on company hardware. Just don't cripple my tools.
