>makes desktops obsolete
>>108413170...until you need actual bandwidth or desktop hardware which is usually more performant
>>108413170what kind of poorfag laptop are you using? mine has all these ports and more
>>108413170My laptop has all of those ports built in.
>>108413188use case for actual performative bandwidth?
the selling point of desktops is better cooling and more space/ standardization for easier repairs
>>108413205same
>>108413170If you have desktop space at office/home and you reduce your practicality and compute horsepower to a mobile device then you must be suffering from some kind of mental illness.
>>108413198Some faggy ultrabook be it from crApple or Microjeet
>>108413198>>108413205Not all of us have 15y/o Thinkpads.
>>108413377Some of us are on a mission from God game devving on a potato.
>>108413424But I have since pulled out Big Iron again.
>>108413418i'm using a msi ge66 raider
>>108413209performative gaming pokemon title screens
>>108413198>>108413205mine too but it's nice to plug in one cable (that can be plugged-in right-side-up or upside-down) and have everything on my desk connect to it, as opposed to plugging in and out charger, hdmi cable, webcam, keyboard and mouse, speakers, whatever you use, when going from mobile to desk.I've 'built' a docking station into an old 2010 iMac. It was €50 for the Imac (with a quite nice 1440p 27 inch screen) and about €20 for a display driver board, plus a few old cable extenders I had lying around. There's only one thunderbolt cable visible. The rest is all inside the iMac casing. The internal webcam is supposed to work too - I have tried soldering the wires to a usb plug and plugging it into the docking station, but haven't yet got that working (probably quite a bad solder job on my part).
>>108413170Exactly what do you think this does?
>>108413504It obsoletes the desktop.
>>108413504It replaces your Threadripper and RTX card
>>108413170Fuck you middle management morons. Handing everyone in the office a laptop andna shotty dock instead of just setting up a few slim client PCs is more expensive and they're so fragile
>>108413170For me ?Desktops are obsolete since circa 2007.When I have started with laptops as main computer- for me it was Asus F3 Ke series.Since I never returned to desktops. There is no point in supporting thirsty desktop CPU and GPU cards! My current main computer consume 25 wats surfing4 wats idle 55-60 wats under load Think pad 7genNo single complainCAD , 3D Max , Blender, I5 2c4t hd Gr.620 Soc
>tfw your display doesn't have all those already
>>108413170Not really, because I want a 14" MacBook Pro, but M4 Max seems to throttle in it, so I wouldn't be getting max performance that I could get with a desktop Mac Studio.
For me, it's the Razer USB4 Dock
>>108413418HP EliteBooks made today still have all those ports.
>>108415233enjoy plugging everything in like a fag
>>108413170Have fun with your thermal throttling, and underpowered components to mitigate said thermal throttling.
>just one HDMI port>100mb ethernetlol no
