>Get a am4 cpu and motherboard upgrading from ivy bridge.>first mobo i got on amazon was broken when it arrived >get a new one >that one works >Over time from 2023 2024 it works fine >although there are a few issues and I cant use xmp >2025 arrives. >im working on a game. >i have these crashes almost everyday where the system freezes >eventually my usb controller stops working>have to get a new motherboard. >the old motherboard fucked my ryzen cpu and guess what.... the pins were bent when it came out :( and yes it was the mobo... >have to rush order a new CPU >finally things work for a about a day. >then the SAME freezes happen again but this time EVEN worse >Eventually I learn its the PSU >to late the damage is done. >my psu damaged my motherboard to the point to where its unsable now. >eventually it just now wont turn on. >I go to put in my OLD motherboard because while also damaged it still worked. the old OLD am4 one >It does not even turn on.... and guess what... it destroyed my NEW cpu bending the pins out just like the last one... >for the past 4 weeks ive been working on a animated trailer in blender for my game, ive gotten over 16 scenes done and over 4 minutes of footage WITHOUT the need for a render farm on a budget 9060xt(16gbs) with huge scenery >Have to go to microcenter to get a new board. >I fucked up and got a am5 motherboard and CPU instead of AM4... >I now realize that it might just be better to get a am5... >I buy a bundle and go to return the old am5 motherboard. >the instructions tell me to remove the safety harness by the picture not having it when installing the CPU and DO NOT tell me how to open up the CPU on AM5 which is different from am4. >my screwdriver slips and without the safety cover the pins get..... fucked. >The motherboard is now fucked and its all my fault.... If I was not selfish and just stuck to ivy bridge.. I would had never had this problem..
>>108414327you simply lack the skill to assemble pcsit's fine, people have different strengths and weaknessesyou said you are animating in blender, I have no idea how to approach something that complicated
>>108414362no its just that the instruction manual told me to do something else... and it never told me how to remove the safety box on the am5 prcoessor(Its not just a simple pull the lever and it comes off. Am5 or at least this gigashit motherboard has a lock on it that requires unscrewing and doing a lot of stuff NOT told in the manual... I do reverse engineering in my free time and even I had NO idea what to do and my phone was outta battery so I could not get youtube out to see a video...) But I still appericate you being kind about my fuck up. thank you
>>108414389>Am5 or at least this gigashit motherboard has a lock on it that requires unscrewing and doing a lot of stuff NOT told in the manual..Wut?They are all the same
>>108414407THAT WASN'T IN MY MANUAL.IN MINE IT JUST SKIPPED PASSED THAT AND ASSUMED YOU HAD ALREADY REMOVED THE SAFETY STRAP.Mine had a block on the lever that would not open like a small metal holder keeping the lever in place and unable to just pull it... and there were NO INSTRUCTIONS on how to remove it... it just assumed you had it all out!
>>108414433what board?
>>108414407let me get it but at microcenter it was on the shelf along with everything else and it seemed like a good board... they reccomended me it.."Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX v2"and look how they have that little metal holder on the lever. THEY NEVER TOLD ME HOW TO REMOVE IT.. and it prevents you from pulling it like that
>>108414459when I say they I mean the manual... Which they were SO FUCKING LAZY when writinig it that they had instructions for BOTH intel and AMD because they reuse it.
>>108414327you were warned about am4lurkmoaralso you might be clinically retarded
>>108414473WHAT should I have done? The am4 processor orginally back in 2023 seemed like a good deal. I mean I got a mobo+cpu combo for like 300$..
>>108414459that looks like a retaining clip. you just push down on it and slide the lever out from the side. have you not ever assembled a computer before? they're literally all the same including intel. do you think that the fucking cpu cooler is what keeps your chip in place? no fucking wonder you have bent pins on your shit lmfao
>>108414486WHAT??? I never had that on BOTH my am4 motherboards. and DAMN not on my OEM dell ivy bridge motherboard!! WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?
>>108414484see >>108414486
>>108414470It's the same thingUnless you were reading the quick start manualAll LGA motherboards have worked the same in regards to the lever, just push it down and away from the "metal holder"
>>108414494yeah you're fucking retarded bro and/or a woman. there's no helping you.
>>108414327Nice blogpost. You are a retard.
>>108414495but I never had that on ANY of my motherboards... that asus one I got that gigabyte.. and now THIS one has a magic retaining clip that apperently has existed this entire time just on boards that I concidentially bought that did not have it? The manual didn't tell me how to do it.. >>108414502But I swear ive NEVER HAD a motherboard that included that. Those two am4 motherboards did not have that... my old dell oem ivy bridge motherboard never had that... hell even the ones at microcenter on the DISPLAY never had that???What do you guys mean this is just a common thing that always been around...>>108414497but there was only ONE manual.... is there ANOTHER one that im suppose to materialize out of thin air? is that a feature that has been around for 20 years air materialization? is that the next thing your gonna tell me.
>>108414516and no it was me screwing in something and then my screwdriver slipped and puntuncred hte cpu pins causing them to get bent.... if i had the safety thing on there it woulda been fine... but the pictures had the safety thing OFF so i thought you had to remove it
>>108414516>But I swear ive NEVER HAD a motherboard that included thatThe ivy bridge system had a lever what works pretty much the same way as AM5
>>108414537No but see on MINE there is a metal clip on the lever preventing it from being pulled upwards... you see it...see the picture here >>108414459 you see that litttle clip on the lever.and like my DELL motherboard did not have it..
>>108414327OP is a retard. 5800X3D with good DDR4 still rocks. The difference to midrange AM5 systems is negligible in high-res gaming.
>>108414553all my am4 boards didn't have this clip, same with my dell ivy bridge board... ive NEVER seen this before... how is it commonplace?
>>108414553That clip works exactly the same as the thing circled in blue, you push the lever down and away from itJust looks a little different
>>108414562Well I was AT microcenter and fucked up ordering a am5 cpu... and the person at microcenter thought I was building a AM5 system because I had gotten a am5 cpu(ryzen 5 7600x when In reality I was wanting to get a ryzen 7 5600x.. you see that. I fucked up the 2 little digits...) and at that point I might as well just get ddr5 ram and just now deal with the fact I now have a am5 system
>>108414586all I needed was a am4 motherboard. A am4 cpu and a new case because my old microatx dell one that I was using is pure metal and extremely cramped and doing anything causes SEVRE scratches and bleeding to your hands..(its very old..)
>>108414502I never had that on MY ivy bridge motherboard. its some OEM shit..
>Build a pc>Have no idea what I'm doing>It works out>Takes forever and terrifies me but its fine>Years pass>Build a pc>Have no idea what I'm doing>It works out>Takes forever and terrifies me but its fine>Years pass>Build a pc>Have no idea what I'm doing>It works out>Takes forever and terrifies me but its fine>It works outlast 30 years resumed
>>108414327>first mobo broken>second mobo broken, but i'll use it for years anywaybuy a prebuilt dude. even ltt can build a working computer, but you can't.
>>108414327>bent pinshuh? why would a defect PSU bend pins?I heard about melting pins and burnmarks but just bend pins?sounds like you installed it wrong or something
>>108415109The motherboard the original ASUS one... came from amazon. and I believed someone returned it with broken am4 pins STILL in the socket so that when I installed it, it would then take out MY pins from my cpu and any cpu inserted
>>108415311Because BOTH cpus that were inserted into that motherboard would come out with their pins bent
>>108415311oh yeah, the old "return a mobo with broken pins in the cpu socket". happens all the time. cpu sockets are notorious for shearing off pins.
>>108415359No offense... but is that sarcasm... i don't know.. if it isn't I apolgize.
>>108414473You are not a nice person. People like you are why internet posting licenses will eventually be required.
>>108415359But like if it is sarcasm.. then might i remind you that I pulled out cpus from my gigabyte motherboard and they came out fine so I KNOW that its not my fault.. BOTH cpus that went into that asus board came out with broken pins.
>>108414855kek, shrimple as.also, OC'd my 3700x in 2020 to its limits. never turn it off. ever.OC'd the 3 core amd to its limits in 13, never turned it off ever. still runs as server...whats the problem?
>>108414327sounds like a skill issue to me.
>>108415311it wasnt packaged airtight with seals?and you didnt check the socket?should have just returned it.
