>latches on to whatever apocalyptic tech nonsense is in vogue

>fixes literally nothing.

What's the point again?

They don't do anything when it comes to tech anymore but they do some important legal work
>>
>fear-mongering articles
Yeah. Look at this one on ZKPs.
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/07/zero-knowledge-proofs-alone-are-not-digital-id-solution-protecting-user-privacy
>Zero Knowledge Proofs: The Bad News
>ZKPs are a great tool for sharing less data about ourselves over time or in a one time transaction. But this doesn’t do a lot about the data broker industry that already has massive, existing profiles of data on people.
Even though ZKPs are a technically sound and privacy-respecting solution to age verification, they have to come up with some contrarian reason for why they're against them. ZKPs don't fix existing issues, therefore they're trash (as if NOT implementing ZKPs is going to fix those issues either).

Ok
>>
>>108414753
nobody actually uses zero-knowledge proofs because they're basically vaporware.

Have they said anything about the recent systemd infiltration?

>multiple OS age verification laws
>EFF is silent
there's no point at all.

>>108414942
Goes to show that they are deprecated.

>>108415080
What do you think deprecated means

Leftoids survive on willful ignorance and hysteria

They have said things about these laws, it's just that the things they've said are stupid, and shoot down the one privacy-respecting suggestion on how to implement them.
>>
>>108414753
ZKP age verification is doomed to fail because (i) normies will never trust it because ZKP is graduate-level cryptography, (ii) it'd require a global, open standard to be remotely convenient, and (iii) the Palantir databases waiting to get breached already exist anyways, and lawmakers would rather use those.
>>
>>108414942
they have been writing and doing campaigns against age verification for years
you don't hear about it because there have been more NGOs in favor of identity checks than against and the press looks to retain its status vs "unaccountable" self-publishing systems
>>
>>108416237
ZKP age verification is doomed to fail because it's ineffective.
If it's truly zero knowledge, you only need one guy to set up a service that you can redirect age verification requests to, and then the whole system is broken.
