>why does AMD suck at this?
It's simply the financial & talent disparity. NVIDIA has the cash & perks to attract the best talent in the business.
NVIDIA's gaming division alone can generate more revenue than AMD's client (Ryzen, Threadripper, Radeon Pro) & gaming (Radeon dGPU + console SoC) sales.
So NVIDIA has a lot more cash to burn to develop new graphics rendering tech that everyone else "needs" to catch up.
If the others can't provide feature and performance parity, they need to sell their gaming products at a discount, which is happening right now.
AMD and Intel can't keep slashing prices because their GPUs are made out of costly TSMC wafers, and they need the income to keep up with R&D.

AMD's gaming division is developing new graphics features with Sony & Microsoft because tech like upscaling and frame generation allows these clients to order cheaper console SoCs.

Accelerating RT requires hardware that takes physical space on the gpu die

9070 xt has vastly improved RT perf from previous gens as they basically doubled the die investment.
Nvidia started this trend many years earlier and have more mature rt architecture that performs better in PT since they designed many gens of chips to do it by now.
AMD is fine for rt games, but nvidia is ahead in Path tracing perf so if you want to play cp with max settings you need modern nvidia gpu.
>>

I know this has nothing to do with pc building, but please help me.

First, I need a tool (preferably FLOSS) that can export all the highlights from a pdf as text, then find the same text in another pdf (that could be on different pages from the first pdf) and automatically highlight them.

Second, I need a FLOSS pdf reader for android and windows that can handle many highlights without slowing down. It must have smart search features like searching from the current page instead of the beginning and showing a list of all the findings of the searched string with a fragment of the text where they are found.

AMD cpus and gpus used to suck, then they spent all their money on hiring keller to develop ryzen. They still haven't hired anybody to unfuck their gpus or GPU drivers but nvidia is starting to ruin their drivers so that doesn't matter as much, just hardware

Rt isn't important, once graphics cards settle on "acceptable" then the difference won't be a problem between amd and nvidia. Its mainly used to make the developers lives easier. There's a reason nvidia is working with generative ai in dlss5. (They know their lead in raytracing will end with diminishing returns) same reason why they started using ray reconstruction.
>>
>>108417899
every new game relies on rt for better lighting

many say starfield looks great with dlss5 because it didnt use rt and base lighting had more to gain from being post processed with dlss5

Its a literally cyber punk. So yes you need the billion neon lights in this scenario, and yes it's impossible to bake all that lighting, and yes it looks batter than half life.

those 15 hours are better than anything cd projekt red has put out in twenty years. wow, another open world slop game with light rpg mechanics and a subpar story with decisions that don't matter and shit driving. if ubisoft made this game, it would have fit right in apart from the setting. omg they added keanu reeves, that makes the game 10/10.

Your moving the goal post. Game play is subjective. We are talking about Path tracing, HDR, and Cyber punk being untouchable in the visual department. Small areas can easy make fantastic baked lighting. Large scale is impossible at the same level.
>>
>>108418293
>Game play is subjective

I had gemini help me with my build:
You cannot afford a "fucking" NVIDIA RTX 6000 (specifically the Ada Generation or Blackwell Pro 6000) because it is not a consumer gaming card; it is a professional workstation tool priced at a premium that reflects enterprise-level hardware, currently retailing between $7,500 and over $10,000.
Reddit
Reddit
+4
Here is why that card is out of reach for most people:
It’s a Professional, Not a Consumer, Product: The RTX 6000 is designed for AI development, data center training, and high-end workstation rendering, not playing video games. It is geared toward businesses that use the card to generate revenue, allowing NVIDIA to charge a massive premium.
Insane Manufacturing Costs: These cards are equipped with specialized features like 96GB of GDDR7 memory, requiring high-end components that are in short supply due to the AI race.
The AI Boom & Memory Shortage: Global demand for AI hardware has caused a surge in VRAM prices, making high-end GPUs significantly more expensive.
Diminishing Returns for Gaming: Even if you bought one, it is only roughly 15% faster than a high-end consumer card like an RTX 5090 in gaming, making it an entirely impractical purchase for entertainment.
High "Entry" Costs: It is often sold as part of professional workstations or in bulk, with single units often being sold at inflated retail rates, with some models priced over $10k.

In short: It’s priced like a car because it is designed to be a business workhorse, not a toy.

thats the funny thing, with memetracing 2.0, you literally cant, 30fps is not playable, thats console shit-eater territory.

If a gimmick drops fps under 100 consistently, its a SHIT gimmick-tech. This has been a gigantic problem, and massive cope for Njudean paypigs like you, since the 2000 series.

On AMDs website it says 90C. That's when it starts throttling. Anything below that the CPU will boost past its stock clock.

Well at least he's not a giant pussy like digital foundry, and I doubt it will work well even on a 50 series. DLSS 5 is definitely future facing.
>>
>>108420990
The bottleneck is probably vram, which is why the super series was going to have a 24gb 5080 super. A single 5090 and probably 16gb cards will run it no issue when the model is optimized in size.

What about a 5090 and a 3090 for vram? The 3090 is probably unsupported.
>>
>>108421008
3090 doesn't support fp 4 so either expect the 30 series to not support this at all or to get a performance hit similar to dlss 4.5
>>
>Have perfectly good GPUs

tbf this has happened before in the past too like in 2010's and 2018's.
>>
>>108421012
Oh I was under the impression you needed two GPU.
>>
>>108421030
They likely needed two 5090s because the model in dlss 5 is not optimized current gpu vram sizes
>>
>>108421032
I was just wondering if you could use a 5090/3090 combo since I have both. It probably won't even work well with two 5090s at this point.
>>
>>108421038
I don't think they're going to let you run two GPUs for DLSS 5 and I doubt it would make a difference once the model is optimized.
>>
>>108420440
Yes but then are those cracked cards caused by of a lack of support? What I'm trying to get at is whether the 50 series is less vulnerable to sagging damage in the opposite direction when one or more supports are used, which older cards seem to struggle with. In the previous thread there was a 2024 video about this problem with the 4080.

I think the real factor in whether someone looks forward to DLSS 5 or not is whether they consoom content that would be filled with AI generated images or video on the regular. I do not find the DLSS 5 output tushy triggering because I don't look for "AI slop" to begin with, and it looks just like touched up people to me, subject to further refinement by the fall. The mirror is truly recommended for this topic.

>>108420964
Steve is more on the side of neutrality / Nvidia on this one while Tim this time is far more negative.
>>
>>108421045
A crack is always pressure related. Doesn't even need to crack the pcb the core can crack from tightening the cooler too much.
>>
>>108421045
>cracked cards caused by of a lack of support
I would have to guess (because the videos are just about the repairs) that the motherboards are vertical, with the gpu sticking out, held by a screw at one end, and just the socket at the other.

I wouldn't expect the 50-series to be any more or less prone than earlier series.
If the card's heavy, try to reduce the pressure felt by the edge connector.
>>
>>108421081
>i like dlss 5 because i don't look at anything on the internet
Okay that's a take but it's a stupid one. Whatever model they're using to "enhance" lighting per frame makes models look the exact same as the AI slop ads you see on youtube and twitter.

Literally all Nvidia has to do is train a model that's not some generic shit we see every day and honors the frame a bit more than it is right now

I'm here. Vendor lockout if the vendor doesn't update their DirectX. If a GPU supports DX12 then it should be able to boot all DX12 games even if the feature level isn't up to code. This is how Alan Wake 2 still boots on Pascal cards despite it basically requiring mesh shaders.
