does anyone have any guide to get started on diy chip building etc. I want to build my own cpu and gpu, also idc if it's hard I just want a guide on it so i can get started in understanding how it works
>>108418813>understanding how it worksyou need 3 or 4 semesters of EE first
>>108418813Do something like Nand2Tetris first or when I was in school I read through pic related which I believe is similar. If you can get through the autism digitally first successfully, then pivot to building a processor on an FPGA which we did in a later class. We built it on a Xilinx PYNQ. That was my opt out at that point that and advanced processor design. The tedium of debugging at such a low level was too much. I did much better with OS design. Maybe you'll enjoy it more.If you want more hardware based design Ben eaters 8bit computer on a breadboard may be more your scene first. I could not stand breadboard CPU design that was a factor of magnitude more tedious in my EE lab course.
>>108418813Impossible. Not even someone as rich as Musk can just "make their own CPU".
>>108418813hackerfab.orgYou're welcome.
>>108418813Research about "Digital Design" and computer architecture to understand the fundamentals. You'll want to learn Verilog or VHDL, and you'll want to find a simulator (you could try out GHDL, though I have no idea whether it is worth spending time on.) Making something that functions is not particularly difficult, though it is a tedious path of research and learning. Making something usable is a harder ask. Making something good or excellent is unlikely, but you could be the next Terry.

>>108418813if you have to ask you're not going to make it, you lack the curiosity and knowledge seeking behaviors required to make it.literally not in your bones.
>>108419039But he is asking and seeking knowledge from the 4channel community.
>>108418813if you're the same one i was talking to in the other thread yeah your first goal is to figure out how to make a (like two or four bit to start with) cpu from logic icsthis is not nearly as difficult or expensive as trying to actually make ics and you'll be much more limited by your intelligencedo you know how a cpu works?
>>108418813Look at RISC-V there are some real working open source chip designs that you can even run on a FPGA. It's going to be unintelligible until you read up a lot on how processors work at a low level though.
>>108419097no im not that anon sorry buti need to brush up on basic computation stuff for starters since i did just come out of hospital for a head injury and slightly forgot things. i posted thread cuz im kind of annoyed at the state of manufacturing in this globalised world.
>>108418813anime thread, DNI
>>108419037>>108418923Any from someone not named "Patel"
>>108419082And after he gets spoonfed the answer here he will end up in the next place where he has to be spoonfed, until there are no spoons left (only a few spoon into hardware manufacturing)
