i have run a spreadsheet for the past years. i note down which distros are explicitly supported by apps for download or installation. the "big 5" are: Ubuntu, fedora, Debian, opensuse, arch. then a long gap where nothing comes. so it's definitely a top 5 distro in real life when you look beyond distrowatch and reddit
