what are some good wired earbuds that go over the ear(hook)
right now im using apple buds but they keep falling out I put silicone tips on them and they stay in a bit better but they're still not secure

>Budget
$30-80???
>Intended use (media, source, environment)
Im using an iphone 5s as my mp3 player so they cant be crazy and drain too much power (battery has surprisingly lasting me a few days of listening to music a few hours a day, I will listen indoors and outside too

>Frequency response preference and music examples
pop and hiphop, I can appreciate a more balanced sound but nothing too balanced where its boring (like how u guys tricked me with audio technica headphones when i was a teenager) I like how the apple buds sound

>Past gear and your thoughts on them
in the past i've used sony 1000xm4s and shokz open fitpro (loved these) u guys tricked me into getting audio technica headphones (im not an audio engineer im casual listener)

im looking for something wired and simple maybe something like the sony walkman type headphones or the ones without the band??? Im happy with the apple buds audio quality if i can get better thats cool but I mainly want something wired and with an over ear hook so they stay on (I have large ear holes)

How good are these? I work in a loud factory with unregular noises like impact wrenches. I would want complete silence.

I had tea pros + a q5k which I only used via bluetooth. Returned the q5k after plugging my IEMs into my k7 desktop amp and seeing how much better they sounded. They sounded great with my Fiio qx13 wired dac amp but I kept having to unplug and plug it back into my iphone. Now have Mega 5 ESTs and an M21 DAP. Sound is amazing but I hate having to lug around something as big as my phone. Any smaller wired DAC amps with EQ which will sound as good as my desktop amp/M21 DAP?

M8 wanted to hear my Tet so we swapped IEMs. Now I get to play with Hex for a bit.

>A/B comparisons between Storm and Hex
Hex wasn’t as good as I remembered when I last heard it during Canjam. IMO I would describe it as a better Annihilator 23.

Definitely more V-shaped than Storm. Hex has a much better bass texture and depth and more upper mids energy. Because of this it is both warmer and more energetic sounding relative to Storm. Bass on the Hex doesn’t hit as deep as the Tet but it is more balanced and controlled with minimal bassbleed because of its steep cutoff in the lower mids. Hex’s female vocals, whilst forward, sound slightly glassy. Same with the treble – to my ears Storm has a much smoother extension and doesn’t sound as tizzy as the Hex.

Storm is notably lean-sounding, but it’s very coherent throughout its frequency response, while Hex sacrifices mids timbre for a more engaging and fun listen. I can see the scooped mids on the Hex being a deal-breaker depending on the genre. Storm doesn’t suffer from any weird dips to that extent so its lean tonality is easily remedied by using a warmer source.

For staging Storm stages wider, with cleaner separation too. Hex is more intimate and immersive due to its tuning. Techs or resolution goes to Storm.

Also as a caveat – Hex is quite sensitive and regardless of source you will hear buzzing or hissing. Turns out because of space constraints in the shell Lee opted not to include the insulation for the piezo driver – as a result Hex will pick up any and all EMI noise. I can hear the buzzing whenever I place my finger on the touchscreen of my FiiO M27.

Humiliation ritual.
