Soitroon dot shitty is well-known for doing insane amounts of datamining, including not just browser fingerprinting, but also hardware fingerprinting and even looking at your local network (e.g. your printer) to identify you. All of its users are mentally retarded underage Discord attention whores, so the site's owners can easily get away with it.

My question is: how much datamining does 4chan do and is it anywhere near the Shitty's level? Not everyone here is retarded, so I would think that there would be major pushback if 4chan datamined its users on that level.

A lot

I bet it does enough to link most instances of the word nigger to a specific individual.
>>
>>108424569
It does browser fingerprinting to prevent ban evaders. Look at how Richard Golden got arrested for threatening to shoot Chitwood in Minecraft.
>>
It does browser fingerprinting, but I don't think it does hardware or network fingerprinting.
>>
How does a website even do hardware fingerprinting, much less access your local network?
I know you can get unique GPU information with <canvas> and such, but using XHR to test local IPs sounds like BS unless I'm missing something

Last time i checked, your boogeyman soitroon website could be used while having cookies auto-delete.
Meanwhile 4chan can not be used that way for years already.
Every single person who posts here has all his posts tied to him. This website already has accounts... just that only the site administration can view them and that you cant delete it.

sharty lets you post via vpn
4chud does not

Simple: It doesn't.

Glowfag software like discord and various residential proxy executables open local ports.
Like Discord is on 127.0.0.1:6463 and of course any website can simply do a fetch on that.
In fact, that is its specific stated purpose, so when you click on a discord invite, discord.com in the browser can talk to your locally installed app.

They could register a protocol, like discord://, then they wouldn't have to do that, but then they also couldn't spy on you as effectively.
It is the discord app that does the scanning it. It is the spyware.
What OP is angry about is that his deliberately installed local spyware is being checked by others, and those others can block him based on the existence of that spyware.

basically:
If you have the discord app installed, you get blocked.

Sharty has something called integrity bans which go further than just hardware bans.

sounds like a meme name for fingerprinting
or am i supposed to believe a shitposting basedteen forum invented mechanisms which cloudflare/etc do not have?
reminder that hardware bans do not exist outside of video game binaries

wait what? they added more bullshit? and they still cant stop the 'p spammers... OH WAIT the 'p spammers are their discord admins, why else would they seemingly cant "stop" the spammers by banning them
they ruined their site, it used to be fun to shitpost and troll there, you need to move on, i moved on
>>
>>108425201
thanks for clarifying that
I get how discord can talk to the registered app through the browser, though I want to clear up on websites fetching 127.0.0.1:6463--- when discord is registered as an app that certain websites may interact with, are those websites granted permission to fetch() that local IP:port?
I don't know anything about browser-local software communication, to be clear

>It does browser fingerprinting to prevent ban evaders. Look at how Richard Golden got arrested for threatening to shoot Chitwood in Minecraft.
Retard, he was arrested because he posted a death threat with his actual IP address. Not because of some schizo browser fingerprint conspiracy.

if you saw the leaks from this site in even 2010 yes
>>
>>108425201
this. early on their site would run remote code execution (RCE) to check if your discord client is open and check for specific ports. I assume it's so they can also check for discord exploits to launch malicious code attacks against your PC.

I hate to be that guy now, but we do have the much larger reputation for being a Federal honeypot now. This site literally collaborates with three letter agencies, the worst I can imagine the sharty doing is datamining users for commercial reasons

A lot of IP ranges are banned here for posting. Both my home network and my VPN were banned already when I first tried to post. I used some of crypto from my old job to pay for passcode.

It does, but only with passcode.

I use Discord daily in a browser tab for like 3 or 4 years at this point. Under a VPN.

Within last 5 years there has been a noticeable decline in quality of Internet, including at 4chan.
I personally have been victim of more sophsiticated propaganda campaigns than in the past (Ads masquerading as posts)
> My question is: how much datamining does 4chan do and is it anywhere near the Shitty's level?
yes.
There are reasons to believe yes, there is no reason to believe no.
Dont kid yourself
> so I would think that there would be major pushback if 4chan datamined its users
there is no pushback. THere are complaints, which are ignored.

The work you do may be soulful, but who you do it for is the problem.
>>
>>108425067
>but using XHR to test local IPs sounds like BS unless I'm missing something
WebRTC communicates in UDP. You can subvert it and use it as a common UDP transport, which allows you to use broadcast mode and see which devices start responding to common network discovery protocols. Your browser basically comes with a flaky port scanner built-in.
>>
>>108425450
Yeah, they actually can do this. They can technically also do things like force you to covertly become part of a torrent swarm and share pirated material, which then can result in the rightsholder coming knocking at your door with a C&D order. Or they can join you to distributed file systems similar to IPFS, many of which are very shady and involve the sharing of CSAM. Which might make you a target for the authorities.
The only reason it doesn't happen in practice, is because users don't spend long enough on any one compromised website.
But that of course changes if an attacker would manage to compromise a big community portal that has plenty of terminally online doomscrollers present all day long.
