Architects and high level all use MacOS because it's the most reliable, least fussy, gets in your way the least. People SSH into linux/unix servers from MacOS, or RDP to a Windows sever from MacOS. Linux is not a desktop, you don't ever install a GUI on it, it's useful because it's lightweight and low maintenance in a stripped down server configuration.

It used to be a cheap upgrade. You bought a machine with 4GB because the 8GB upgrade was $100 more and nothing needed 8GB. Then after a few years when windows/firefox bloat meant 4GB sucked, you could buy 16GB for less than 8GB cost years ago. You then use that machine for another year or two. But even before the RAM-pocalypse prices weren't coming down. 32GB cost the same in 2022 as it did in 2024, waiting to upgrade was a waste of time. Plus soldered RAM takes less power and can run faster. Upgradability is the limiting factor on PC hardware.
