It makes a proof of compute that is really expensive to replicate tons of times, and is difficult to replicate if you do not have the kind of client that it is expecting. Also it makes boomers and Alphoids who freak out and start clutching crosses and pearls when they see a woman who isn't fat or ugly seethe and scream (while pissing)

There's literally no downside to Anubis and you should be forced to look at Anime woman nudes to even connect to the internet to filter the soulless goylets (goy + toilet) who have cute aneurisms.

>>108437331
This is a proxy which does not scale. Congrats, you let your singular scraper through. The purpose is to prevent thousands, millions of scrapers. The fact you would have to invest twice the resources to defeat it as a normal user means it's working.

bot farms and scrapers have never cared about how much "compute" the scraping costs
its simply a question who has more money, and currently the biggest culprits of scraping, ai companies, have limitless funding, and therefore limitless compute power

the only forms of scraping you will prevent are the more legitimate forms like archiving or download managers, who cant afford infinite compute

>solves proof of work
>it costs money to solve, in the form of cpu time and electricity
>'solved'

the whole point of anubis is to make scrapping more expensive. at the highest difficulty, it will consume around 10Wh of electricity, which will make mass scrapping expensive. anubis doesn't prevent bots, it's explicitly stated in their documentation, the whole point is to make it uneconomic to scrap your site.

It does not compute for every request.
Without sending the cookie there is nothing to scrape, so if the proxy sends the cookie scrapers are free to use the data. The requirement is to solve the pow captcha 1 time or each time to the cookie expires.

I'm glad to see so many people rightfully call out the juvenile nonsense of this tool's branding. And of course the developer is a tranny. Their whole personality consists of shoving their idiosyncrasies in others' faces, especially in cases where it's wildly inappropriate to do so. As if there isn't already enough reason to hate him, a more professionally-branded version is exclusively available through a paid commercial subscription of $50+/month. 41% can't increase soon enough.

I give bots impossible challenges and it works.

t. 1gb ram server chad
>>
>>108451912
depends on your goal
you can absolutely filter out the low effort bots going for low hanging fruit
you dont even need challenges, its as simple as blocking certain ASINs, as they always originate from the same few servers, hosted by the same few companies, from the same few countries

but you absolutely cant block scrapers from openai, google, or any other large company with limitless resources
the only thing thats stopping them is them is their own will
>>
>>108452042
well they have yet to get past my filters, so I can't prove or disprove what you say. Their overt bots use obvious UAs
>>
>>108452060
thats my point
the good faith bots dont really need to be filtered, theyre crawlers from google or services like archive.org
you can get rid of them with a robots.txt, they will respect that

the problem are bad faith bots, and because they are doing naughty things for profit they have more resources available
theyre even known to hire human bots, i.e. click farms

you cant escape, the ride never ends
>>
>>108452096
well they need to get past my firewall, it's not a problem yet. The bad bots have been blocked with anubis so far
>>

I don't think anyone would have an issue if the Anubis character looked like a cereal mascot, a sports team's mascot, or even something goofy like Tux, the BSD Demon, or Mickey Mouse. Anime in particular is seen as content for mentally-regressed adults, and as long as said adults don't stop associating themselves with anime, this perception likely will never change.
