How realistic is this? What are the benefits?
It's not.And there is none.

It’s not that crazy.>In the lithography process, helium is used to create a stable vacuum environment, ensuring precise alignment and exposure of photomasks. Additionally, helium helps in cooling semiconductor materials, reducing thermal stress that could impact the integrity of the chips.>Furthermore, helium’s ability to prevent oxidation during etching processes enhances the overall quality and performance of semiconductor devices.

>>108438819Even with Starship's promised payload capacity it would be horribly inefficient unless you have several launches per day to supply the space fab, which would mean a) it would have to be fucking massive, and b) immense cost just to ship raw materials, not even accounting for shipping them back and recovering them wherever they land. Plus, fab processes require fresh water, and a ton of other chemicals and gases that would need to be in constant supply. It's complete science fiction, which is not unheard of from this retard.

>>108439467who ?
>>108438911Hey, look! A bargaining muskrat.
A common misconception is that space is "cold". It isn't, it's a vacuum, and vacuum are really good at preserving temperature. Putting something in space that generates heat is fucking retarded because radiating that heat out won't be a sufficient form of cooling compared to convection, it'll just overheat and melt.Put your shit in Alaska or something where the temperature is low as fuck and you can still cool with convection.
>>108439467He got shot in the neck because a random faggot hated the idea of someone disagreeing with them.
Space travelling is still reliant on 1930s technology (rockets) In order for humans to do anything useful in space they will need to develop something a lot faster, capable of moving a lot more weight for a lot cheaper which is not possible with current human technology
>>108438819Wait, isn't doing everything in space a lot worse because radiation can literally flip bits and shit like that?
>>108438847he just makes noise to pretend he's still relevant.

>>108439627>which is not possible with current human technologySpace elevators are possible with current human technology, just not with current human culture.
>>108440067You would want to build a fab on a planet with an atmosphere. Nowhere near earth is good. A space elevator won’t help. You would need faster then light travel to make it be feasible
>>108440175The whole fab in space thing is retarded anyway because there's literally no reason to do such a thing, but I don't see why you couldn't just put a space station at the end of a space elevator and pump air into it from the ground.
>>108440185>I don't see why you couldn't just put a space station at the end of a space elevatorthe space elevator part
>>108440185If it was on a planet the atmosphere provides radiation shielding+ample access to raw materials+protection from space debris
>>108440216??? So the end of the space elevator has to terminate with nothing at the end? What's stopping you from just putting something there? I thought those things needed a counterweight anyway.
>>108440225
>>108440231Maybe you didn't have much of a point in the first place.
>>108438911It’s already running low and you can’t make more of it.>You cannot make helium at home; it is produced naturally through the decay of radioactive elements or found in natural gas. The extraction process is complex and requires specialized equipment, so it's best to purchase helium from suppliers.

>>108440536If we were smart enough to build massive buildings in space I would hope we would be much more advanced then relying on the sunlight for power
He's just gassing up his stocks, as usual.
>>108438819Even if you somehow could build an entire orbital chip fab you're still putting an extremely microscopic sensitive engraving process in an area getting blasted by a ton of radiation, it's retarded at every possible angle.
>>108438819About as realistic as Hyperloop or putting humans on Mars by 2024
>>108438819It wouldn't be cheap, but in principle, there's some esoteric materials manufacturing that could be done much more easily in a microgravity environment.
>>108439263You can probably make more money from it than you think. If you find more planets with a different diversity of flora and fauna you can make new medications. Many animals and plants are used to make medicines. For example, penicillin is made from a certain type of mold, and bacteria are becoming resistant to it. We will most likely need to find a new type of antibiotic in the future or we’re going back to the dark ages.>Penicillin is derived from a type of mold called Penicillium, specifically from species like Penicillium chrysogenum and Penicillium rubens. It was first discovered by Alexander Fleming in 1928 when he observed its antibacterial properties.
>>108441216>bacteria are becoming resistant to itBased. Humanity deserves to suffer and die. Brutally, painfully even. If I had the time I would personally go into every single hospital room reserved for someone terminally ill and laugh in their fucking face about how fate has caught up to them.
>>108438819None. It genuinely makes no sense.
>>108441216I'm aware but the billions (probably closer to trillions by the time we find a suitable planet for anything) you need to spend to maybe send a drone somewhere near us are simply not worth it. Biological and ecological developments are too risky for now, however even if you find a massive mine of some random ore you can take you'd still flood the market and dump the price of whatever you found. If you somehow don't dump the price because of it (which would be weird since all investors in the commodity would just invest in your company instead and maybe short the commodity) you'd likely be broken up soon by some big government.
There are so many regulations and bitchy faggots on earth that it is literally cheaper and easier to build rockets and ship your entire manufacturing process to space than do it down here.
