Why is computer software seemingly the most brainwashed sector of technology? When I was a teenager in the early 2000s I used to look up to computer programmers as being pioneering free-thinkers. Now all I see are weak-minded conformists who seem completely incapable of thinking for themselves. Everyone is completely OK with being a slave to the big corporations. No one cares about quality or disciplined architecture. Everyone bends to political activism like pathetic servants. Everyone keeps making the same poor technology decisions over and over again. Very few seem to want to criticize trendy but inferior technologies. Is it a result of programming having become so accessible now that only a small fraction of programmers actually have passion for their discipline?
