Tbh, they have a point. Most of these Chinese routers are basically prone to memory safety issues. You can easily find a DoS on the settings page (cgi files) , command injection or even RCE. I know you have to be in the same network with the router to get advantage of these vulnerabilities (physically being there). I suggest getting whatever router that supports OpenWRT and just install it.
