Why doesn’t Apple make printers?
>>
>>108445095
They used to. I think they dropped them when Jobs came back in the 90s. He streamlined a lot of things about the company to be just computers at first, then slowly introduced extra stuff like the ipod. Never printers again.
>>
>>108445095
There's nothing to print.
>>
>>108445095
No one's paying 4x as much for the same piece of shit printer as every other company makes
>>
>>108445139
>They used to
most were rebadgered Canon/HP/yaddas
>>
>>108445095
They couldn't exploit African civil wars for cheaper ink
>>
>>108445183
i just remember them being well regarded. everything about apple was synonymous with desktop publishing. by the 90s, it was probably more music and partly film.
>>
>>108445154

yeah while some were literally 100% HP Deskjets, tbf they were (sometimes) adding their own boards and bits to the earlier models to ensure Postscript (and Apple) compatibility. They did own DTP, Jobs probably saw which way the wind was blowing there tho.

we have airdrop and icloud
what the fuck would I even need to print
>>
>>108445269
Apple hasn't told you yet.
>>
>>108445247
there was another issue with adobe being difficult about postscript licensing, when apple wanted to use it for mac os x's interface (quartz). so he pivoted to pdf, which had a public spec by that point. maybe that factored with the printers too. i don't know.
>>
>>108445095
Apple used to make their own printers until 1997.

Are you saying that millennials should like printers?
>>
>>108445865
