Is this a realistic depiction of the life of a dev rn?
>>108452011in 6 months he'll be developing my Happy Meal
>>108452011A blue collar factory dev. That's not what code artisans do.
environment is kinda both complicated and cheap..
>>108452011No idea but "I" am "working" on a personal project using a coding plugin with a few approved commands and access to documentation MCP servers and so far it is producing working results.I.e. a working binary. Cost me ~25$ so far and considering how long it'd have taken me to do myself and looking at my hourly rate I can say this shit is cheaper even if it reiterates a billion times in the background while I do other things.
>>108452039Why do you order Happy Meals?
>>108452011> Pov: you're a developer> Pov is of a person watching a developer, not the developer themselves
>>108452011I could ask chat gpt to start writing code and film myself watching TikTok too
>>108452161maybe a developer in 2026 watches a guy scroll social media on his phone in front of a pc with an LLM writing code in it
>>108452190Doomscrolling speed is now a KPI.
>>108452011Yes if its webshit
amazing using web with device and server log runs on pc
>>108452011Why am i forced to look at this jeet and his jeet friends in the background?
>>108452126>he doesnt know
>>108452100Loving your made up scenarios, keep going, people will fall for it eventually.
More like this
>>108452011That PR will be infernal.Mine is not like this because I don't have a manager monitoring my token count and I do not in a sweatshop so I have plenty of time to finish things the old fashioned way. Judging from what other people are saying online though, I am part of the lucky minority.
>>108452011>watching war footage of israel getting missle dumped>you can see his cheeks lift a little from smilingbased jeet
>>108452011That's me at work everyday but waiting for Cadence sims to finish.
>>108452011Average dev, yes. A top dev? No. And the interesting thing is most people don't even know there are tiers!

>>108452011Why doesn't he do something about it ffs?I was doing more or less the same thing around 2021 and I knew that this kind of job wouldn't have lasted for long. As soon as the AI boom started, I figured out something else to do within the IT field and now I'm fine. He will be out of work in about 1 year.
>>108452011yes, hr is totally going to let this continue. they won't just lay off devs until they're running enough claude sessions to keep themselves busy.
>>108453008>tiersGud morning saar
>>108453066Anon hr has no fucking clue about computers or coding. Most hr people would rather die than go near the cubicles of the engineering underclass.
>>108453096they'll see you sitting on your ass browsing twitter on your phone when they head to the pleb bathrooms to take a stinky shit.
>>108453121I think that anons point is that even proompting is beneath HR and the managerial class
>>108452011Its always an indian or white/asian woman doing these videos flexing about not working or their job being showing up for a smoothie or some shit

>>108453066it will be funny
>>108452011My last boss was a micromanaging she-bitch, if any part of my work appeared in any way easy, she would make the workplace more restrictive or try and place a stumbling block in the way. She was my boss for two months before I quit... what a fucking asshole.
>>108452843MiniMax built me a working DBFS in a day. Something you seething cucks haven't achieved in 30 years.Looking forward to you making up imaginary issues about something you don't understand or have any access to faggot.
>>108452161The POV is right. You're watching the retard behind you conjure up 20k LoC AI slop for you to fix next week
>>108452011Tell me what exactly is wrong with this. The economy is fake, elected officials torture kids, you have no power over anything, nothing is worth pursuing. Why shouldn't you just kick back and use AI instead of manually slaving away? Who the fuck cares?

I'm luckily a BA, so I'm just ensuring the solution agreed, developed and deployed meets the business need. A couple friends of mine manage large teams and one of them has agreed 5 years in the past 1, from the endless stream of junk code getting pushed, while his company celebrates the number of commits or whatever. >>108452186You're a caveman, just generate a video of it. But with a co-worker you don't like being the one fucking around. With their name visible somewhere
>>108452011We have got the point at my company now where product managers and people at the top tier or tech management are vibe coding thousands of lines a day and spinning up new repos in our internal GitHub constantly. The code quality is all fine as most people are using Claude Code with Opus 4.6 or Codex with GPT 5.4. They're great models. The problem I have is that the vast majority of projects people are spinning up is just noise, now everyone wants to spin up their idea straight away, no one is really going to use this stuff but it's being encouraged by management. In fact, people are being told they are not spending enough on LLMs. It's a strange time to live in.
>>108452011Not a whole lot of developing anything going on there. Is this Microslop?
>>108453406> if any part of my work appeared in any way easy, she would make the workplace more restrictive or try and place a stumbling block in the wayWhy? Legit question. Doing this shit is just shooting yourself in the foot, since you're evaluated on how well your team performs. It's in your best interest to keep them happy and actually doing something useful.t. manager
>>108456442hi mister managersorry I keep missing meetings in the morning. I sleep in until 10am and can't leave bed until 10.30am. I am a wreck. And there is nothing you can do to help. Only a crazier man can help me, and you sir and a disgusting fat speech slurring normie.

>>108452126it's for my wife's son
>>108452011The code looks messy, with lots of errors in it.Also, if you're competent, just keep the code and files to a minimum. And there's no need for version control; just zip your entire project folder.
>>108456442Despite being young, she had that old boomer mentality of; "If you're leaning, you should be cleaning." For her, work was supposed to be miserable and she wanted you to be certain she was the one making it that way. Some people are just shitty like that. Abusing any tiny bit of power because it makes them feel "big" and "important".I didn't want to quit (I actually liked the job and job market is ass right now), but she was just too much and was only getting started. I can't work for someone that believes that because the work was easy for me (there was no way for her to make it difficult on my end), that I wasn't working at all. That's incredibly disrespectful.
>>108452959it's true, lmao
>>108452011it's my life, but not because I want to, but because I'm forced to.and I feel so miserable. I unironically used to like my job, it was stressful but at least every day felt different.but since the last month I'm forced to 100% videcode because they want to experiment if it's actually more productive and if it produces good results.they make me do the same task over and over with different approaches and/or ai models. I have to time it, then code review it and write a report.I would rather be flipping burgers right now.
>>108452126Because I'm based as fuck, bitch.

>>108458023you let her win. I hate when bullies and retards win but I understandwhat are your next steps
>>108459085>what are your next stepsI got enough money to live normally for about six months (frugally for a year), so that won't be much of a problem, but I'm gonna spend the next few months working on my health with all this extra time and might even look for a more physical job to supplement that. Having only ever worked behind a desk, I think the change of pace can only help... or make me appreciate the cubical life I just tossed in the garbage a week ago.
>>108459919Good stuff dudeMind you when I quit in march 2020 it took 8 months to find another job, and when I did, I got lucky af. Who knows how much longer it would've taken me to get a job. On average I was applying to 15 jobs a day usually. At month 6 I started applying to be a mail man and a Tim Hortons fag. Nothing.I actually want to work at the McDonald's near my place. The girls are quite cute and it's a good location. Seems better than carrying heavy shit while freezing (trades), and being alone WFH (software) all day.
>>108452011yes>>108452039two more weeks >>108452843cope and seethe>>108458184sounds gay that they're forcing you to repeat the same scenarios, but I on the other hand love telling the computer what to do while I literally walk awayI've been in software development for 8 years and it's obvious something is different this timemaybe I just need to learn to weld, but I'm glad I am now considered to be a certified AI wrangler, because that means I at least have proven my wrangling proficiency which could mean more career security
Why hasnt anyone vibecoded an ableton or unity replacement for free yet

Whenever I try to do anything slightly challenging AI becomes a retard, I swear these models are barely smarter than they were in the early GPT4 era. Just way more overfit for benchmark tasks. With how dumb they are in a chat format I can't fathom why someone would leave it alone to talk to itself and then insert the resulting slop into their codebase. Well, if I planned to leave soon, sure. Have your unholy mess
>>108452843It's not made up. Give it enough time and everybody will be begging to fork it. I'm creating a future — your left in the dust.
>>108453063Where did you end up, if I may ask? My guess was that IT might be more resilient than the purely digital jobs like software development, if only because you have to physically deal with hardware.
>>108458184What are your findings? As boring as it may be, it will be very interesting to see the results. The answer to this question is pretty much what most orgs are trying to arrive at.
>>108462326>slightly challengingthen you break the task down more, it often still saves you timeunless your domain is just fundamentally that complex, then congrats, your job safe if your boss doesn't have a retard moment
