What's an appropriate ratio for public torrents? I don't have a nas because it's expensive and I see it as just another consumerist goy hobby.
>>
I do 10x, but it is hard to reach if you turn off your PC.
>>
I stop when my download is done :)
>>
>>108454113
I give back twice what I took at a minimum. So minimum 2.0. I think this is a good policy if you turn of you pc and if you don't have the best upload.
>>
At least 1, ideally closer to 2. To make up for your own bandwidth + give back to 1 more full peer.
For me, I leave all my torrents going for as long as I have them because I have them anyway and I have unlimited bandwidth.
My client has good search and tagging so I use it as a content manager as well.

>dmca stuff i usually stop seeding right away
this but only on clearnet, I leave I2P network enabled
good enough for terrorists, good enough for me.

How is i2p for speed?

I just use proton vpn with port forwarding never had any issues I also need it to actually go to the torrent sites because in the UK pretty much anything even remotely related to torrent sites is censored.

I2P is free tho so that would be nice.
>>
1 or 2, if its something rare or hard to find then I keep that thing seeded until its like 100

I2p is only for torrents available on i2p. Nobody that says they use i2p for torrents actually uses i2p for torrents.
>>

Rodger that.
>>
>>108454113
I just never turn them off lol. When I distrohop I start from scratch and don't add old ones back usually, but maybe I'll see what are the options to automate this next time. Worth noting I'm from a country that doesn't care about torrenting + I also use VPN anyway.
>>108456333
Speed is the biggest problem in I2P imo. It's quite bad, and connections are often unstable. Also >>108456357.
You can theoretically try to torrent clearnet through their gateway but it's barely alive as is, so this will not really work in practice.

I honestly wonder who is seeding obscure movies and files from 20 years ago. But I do appreciate them.
>>
for public torrents I snatch I usually seed them to ~1.2, give back a little more than I leeched. If I post a magnet or something I usually seed it to at least 10
>>
>>108456357
I'm not sure what you mean by that. Torrents are not specific to i2p except in terms of i2p peers, any torrent can be fetched over i2p and the clearnet simultaneously without modification.
Clients like BiglyBT have supported this for a long time and so do others I imagine.

>>108456333
Depends on the peer count and their network settings. I typically see triple digit kb/s
For content that's on a watchlist it's faster than 0. For things like leaked source code sometimes it's the only initial option.
>>
Public torrents? Infinite ratio.
>>
Depends on the swarm. Normally torrents gets removed straight away but I'll add exceptions if it's some niche content and for whatever reason I'm the only IP among others that the sole seeder allowed to leech from them.

Keep seeding for as long as seed drive space allows.

What client? I need something that's acceptable on private trackers because biglybt is not, but I do not want to give up media management features like tags, filters, deduplication and merging.

>I need something that's acceptable on private trackers because biglybt is not
BiglyBT is what I have used for a while so I can't help you there. It's been good for me and I use either public trackers or the private ones I'm associated with do allow it.
I forget if I was using transmission or rtorrent previously. I've used both and remember one of them having a client with good tagging, I think it might have been transmission, but might be both. It's been a while.

I have not checked on QBittorrent in a while, I'm not sure if it's good yet.
People are loud about it but I've always found it lacking. Maybe it's been developed further since, but I'm content with this client. It's very good imo.
Private tracker blacklists are so annoying to deal with. God forbid people use a good client.

animebytes banned biglybt when it had an option of impersonating vuze during its early development and for having mobile version that's impossible to distinguish by user agent (because it's literally the same binary jar in different runtime environments)
>>
>>108454113
If I have space and care about it I just seed it forever. If I know I am gonna delete it, I wait for ratio to hit 2

If the download was too slow for my liking (too many leechers), or if I'm one of the two cunts seeding, then yeah I'll seed for a bit. Otherwise I won't bother. This ratio stuff is pointless.
>>
>>108454113
Just leave it seeding indefinitely, why stop it?

Otherwise I guess a few days at least.

I'd argue if it takes over a day to get 1:1 you should just leave it for as long as possible.
