Why people trash on this? What's exactly a problem? AI shit can be easilty turned off, 10x times easier than literally anything on linux, I use arch for my work but using it for desktop is so retarded.

I'm running it for 4 years 24/7 and I just dont understand the hate.

It's fine compared to linux or the faggotry that is apple.
it's just that W10 LTSC 2021 is better.
>>
The hate it's receiving is justified. Even the most basic functionality doesn't work half the time. Sometimes you log into your user and you just get a black screen but if you restart and then log back in it works. Sometimes the taskbar just doesn't work. Sometimes file explorer is extremely slow even on an SSD which is kinda insane for an ls GUI wrapper. Overall, it's not reliable. There is also the fact that it uses a shit ton more RAM than windows 10 without really doing anything that windows 10 doesn't do. Not to mention the insane hardware requirements

>I just dont understand the hate.
It’s performative, because retards have internalized the idea that linux=smart, and think they’ll look more knowledgeable if they can elevate themselves over windows users. It’s basically a form of mental illness, and a coping mechanism for techlets.

This doesn’t mean linux is bad, but the over the top ‘pick me’ spergs are the embarrassment of the FOSS world.

>AI shit can be easilty turned off, 10x times easier than literally anything on linux
I remember five years ago when I tried changing the default browser, and I had to find some obscure setting and then change the default FOR EVERY SINGLE FUCKING FILETYPE. Even recently I was trying to shrink a partition on a friends laptop, and I had to go hunting for obscure shit on microsoft forums (like disabling hibernation), hunt for them in layers of ancient pre-xp submenus and currently deprecated settings apps, and it still wouldnt work because windows would store some metadata on the tailend of the partition still, so I had to shrink it using gparted from an usb. I cant imagine its much easier for ai. Modern linux is way more user friendly than this
>>
>>108456770
Slow, bloated, lots of nitpicks like how they hide half right click options inside another menu, still can't move taskbar to the side (yes I know thats coming up, in current fucking year), explorer keeps crashing on me, forced updates, ads, spyware, and so on. Yeah yeah lots of that can be amended with tools, registry, but you shouldn't have to do it. Default should be good.
I was dual booting windows for a while now but it bricked itself in an update I didn't authorize and I just decided to wipe it forever.

Literally every feature is fucked in some way, it's slow as fuck even on very overpowered machines, the only real advantage it had over Linux was gaming and a handful of professional software, which Linux can now handle even better than Windows due to having a much lower resource overhead that leaves more resources for the games/software, and it took literally thousands of user complaints just to get the most basic functionality of being able to move the taskbar to be added back into Windows 11 (after they had ignored the complaints for a few years by claiming it "isn't possible" to add that functionality back in, so they literally lied to users then announced the feature like it's some groundbreaking new thing that wasn't already present in every version of Windows in the last 20 years).. it's vibe coded by pajeets. I ran Windows 11 on my main laptop for 6 years and thought it was great, but in the last year it's become absolute dog shit and all of my machines are now running artix and I'm never looking back. If I ever "need" Windows for anything, I have an iso of Windows 10 IOT LTSC saved on my server, and on a few USB sticks that I keep in a shielded lockbox that have stuff like medical, agricultural, and mechanical texts and a full backup of Wikipedia along with an rpi 5, external display and a battery bank that I keep with my emergency food and medical supplies in case of emergency or natural disaster.

Talking about the “slippery slope” is a concession of the point. You’re admitting that there are no age verification measures. There is one small tweak under debate which if adopted would make the age verification process marginally smoother if it were decided that that too ought to be adopted.

The UI is ugly and unsatisfying. Everything feels like it lags (like a web UI). It will frequently freeze and/or crash without warning and for no reason (not doing anything taxing). There is a sense that you're on an ad platform as everything is loaded with subscriptions and ad attempts (OneDrive? Office 365?? etc) There is the new notion of this not being your computer as they force it to turn off for updates whenever they feel like (while everything gets worse and worse and worse). This in fact might be the worst part for me. Forced updates are insulting enough. Forced updates that progressively degrade my experience are positively offensive.

Overall, in many many ways, throughout my day of using it, I'm unhappy. Something bothers me here, there, it's not how it once was. I try out Linux, or a mac, and I feel nothing of the same. Feels like an OS should, in the background, leaving you the fuck alone, while you do the actual thing you need the computer for. If your user is aware of your OS all day, you are fucking up.

So i can do the same shit I did in 2008 at the same speed, but with telemetry and ads sprinkled in? What the fuck is the point of technological progress?
10 years ago I'd press the windows key, start typing "word" and press enter and WordPad would boot up, all taking less than half a second total. Now if I do that I'll get a browser window with search results for The Words (2012). Are you saying I should invest a couple more thousand americoins into my setup so that the process of getting retarded results from the react start menu filled with ads takes 2 seconds instead of 5?

"Just turn it off" is not an argument. The company is consciously making decisions to make this product worse because it knows it has very little competition and the majority of people will suck it up anyway.

I am on Fedora, I have used RHEL for work and am comfortable with it, but it also has a nice UI. We aren't in the 1980s anymore, Linux distros are plug-and-play, accessible, and run nearly anything Windows can.
>>
>>108462374
>"Just turn it off" is not an argument
Why? You can solve YOUR problems by turning it off. You don't need to throw a revolution and try to change the world. Most simply want their computers to work the way they want. And you can do that on Windows.
>>
>>108462347
They’re missing out, and should read Sys Internals.
>>
>>108462347
I was a windows power user, this is mostly true and I was fine with it until windows 10 went eol. 11 is not even that much worse, but the constant little bit of lag on every shell interaction is what got to me. I could turn off everything else but ultimately explorer would still take a minute to start on a clean boot. I would go into a directory and sort by date and it would hang for 5 minutes. You could see the thumbnails slowly filling in one by one.
In the end, linux has issues with niche things like running photoshop which is not something I do every day. I right click and use a file browser every day. Your OS being snappy feels good. And yes I could probably try to use some hacky shell replacer but that's jankier than linux

Anon after several months of using linux, I went back to 11 because I thought "well, there are some things that really do not work on linux no matter how hard I try, and I'm confident these do on windows". So last weekend I decided to do the switch back.
It is just so sluggish. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter that I use Winhance and Windex and whatever the fuck. It doesn't matter I have everything set up all nicely. It is just slow. I'm not understanding why some processes take extra time. Processes that I do exactly the same way on linux. Games that take longer to load for some fucking reason. For christ's sake I have a 9070xt, a 5900x and 32GB and I'm scrolling the web browser and it's just lagging. I have memory integrity disabled and all that stupid shit. No TPM no horseshit. But no it still struggles. All to get this small thing to work that frankly maybe is not such a huge deal. Oh come back anon, come back where you have compatibility, you just have to turn off the shit! Yeah but I already did that and it's still... shit...
>>
>>108456770
It is workable but Windows 11 had such a sharp drop in quality and so many more update issues that a lot of people figured it would be less headache to learn Linux than having to tolerate Microsoft constant decline in quality.

You can make it workable but it's not worth the investment if i have either disable updates full stop (and sometimes they re-enable by themselves, even after goimg through policies and registry keys) or selectively apply them through powershell to avoid the one thay will fuck my configuration and reverts everything back. On top of that there are bloated "features" (mostly ai crap, ads and shit new confs) incrementally added on top with each new major updates that make managing a windows machine a perpetual chore.

Meanwhile with linux i pick a fucking lts distro with sane components (like xfce4) and the os stays the fuck there forever without ever bothering me.

I was a Windows power user and I dipped my toes into Linux (Debian with KDE Plasma) a bit when W10 EOL was announced but never really committed to it until I went all in when Elden Ring Nightreign ran well on Linux when it was almost unplayable on Windows (I was having freezes and things straight up not loading, probably because my CPU is kinda old but still it ran rather smoothly on Linux, only a few slowdowns in some areas), along with the various W11 cancerous AI news I figured I might as well do the switch to Linux immediately since I wasn't gonna use W11.

I'm very satisfied with it for now, way snappier and faster to start, had to tinker a bit to get some games to work and have the non-retarded file selector in some apps but once you're set it just works and you don't feel like you're fighting against your system..
>>
>>108466853
TPM won't make any difference to performance. I have Memory Integrity and all the Core isolation turned on, and I don't notice anything being that slow.
>>
>>108456770
My main issue with it is that it barely qualifies as a standalone OS, under the hood it's literally just windows 10 to the point all the drivers and software are backwards compatible even if the developers don't intend it, but despite that it's got a shittier desktop interface filled with electron apps that lag even on workstation cpus, less customization, and even more baked in bloat that I need to spend my own time to manually remove. And there just won't ever be a reason to use it over 10, because 10 will become unusable at the same time 11 will

It's complete garbage. There are so many things wrong with it I don't even keep track. Just today I found out about a feature I wasn't aware of when the start-up menu all of a sudden no longer allowed me to look at all programs even though I hadn't made any changes. It just showed some recent files instead. I then accidentally clicked a toggle as I was looking through options and without confirmation all my jump lists were gone. Generally I navigate through my jump lists so it's pretty annoying.
It turns out:
>Turning off and then back on the "Show recently opened items in Start, Jump Lists and File Explorer" setting (found in Settings > Personalization > Start) resets the lists to empty.
So turning it on and off clears everything with nothing suggesting it's going to happen nor confirmation asked if I really want to clear all my jump lists. But that's just another garbage feature in a sea of garbage features so it's not even surprising. In saying garbage features I'm not even including weird default settings, the time you need to spend to go through all the settings to get rid of omnivorous privacy rape, or the sudden unexpected changes in the system after minor updates. Btw, my condolences to those who've lost a ton of personal files because they didn't realize their shit was sent to Onedrive by default when they assumed the files were on their computer. There are so many weird defaults on the system. Like deleting files from the Downloads folder after a certain time. Why would automatic deletion of anything but temp files be the out of the box setting?

Also funny how some basic software like LibreOffice lags on Windows 11 but on a low-end 2009 laptop with Windows 7 there is no lag.

Anyway, I'm buying a new desktop next week and it will be without Microslop. I never liked Windows anyway back when it became the standard, but it's unbelievable how bad it has become release by release after Windows 7.

Why switch over from the older and more stable system to the jeet vibe coded new one before you have to?
I might do it later this year once extended support for 10 ends.

It is the same people who trashed on Windows 10 during Windows 7 era.
Eventually they're all going to shut the fuck up and move to Windows 11's final release, and next they will be trashing Windows 12, then repeat the cycle as usual.

You get 10 years of quality and security updates with LTSC

A lot of people run Windows on potatoes. 11 is having a Vista moment performance wise. I run it on a 14900K with 64GB 6600mhz and PCIe 5.0 drive. Even on that, performance at times rivals Windows XP on a PATA drive.

People wanting to go on Linux is great. Please do it. Bazzite, Ubuntu, Mint, whatever autistic ass distro you want. Go to it because Microsoft hates it and it’s changing their tune from the Agenic OS bullshit to “oh yeah we should think about the customer.” I have shit to do day in and day out, so people going to Linux is awesome since I’ll be staying Windows.

We used to make fun of Windows because of questionable decisions and just general flakiness. 11 is straight-up slop. At least 11-tan is sexo.

Again, I know that, but LTSC didn't get 25H2. I'm using it right now and I'm still on 24H2.

Before updating to Windows 11, version 25H2 using an enablement package, you must be running Windows 11, version 24H2. You must have the following prerequisite installed before applying this update:

August 29, 2025—KB5064081 (OS Builds 26100.5074) Preview or a later cumulative update

if its not offered through windows update then you have to get it manually from microsofts catalog
