I sure hope you aren't throwing away old hardware, anon.
>>108457049nope. i still have my pentium 2 sitting right here
I hope this hurts.
what's the excuse this time? still datacenters?
end it
Just boycott all cloud services as much as possible. Are you people stupid?
>>108457049don't really care. the hardware I have (and the extra stuff I have around here somewhere) can run any game I would ever want to play. actually I'm thinking of buying more older hardware, modernity is a disease

the shortage is necessary to enforce a service-based economy. That's corporations hate the AGPL license.
>>108457232Good thing the corporations won't keep the lights on soon enough. I wish them all bankruptcy. All of them. And mass unemployment.
I wonder if trumps plan is to doompill people into voting for him by making thier lives worse
Shouldn't chip supply improve as Intel moves to 18a for both laptop (panther lake) and desktop (nova lake) , freeing up tsmc production for other vendors? Nova lake especially should be nice, since it doesn't need to leave the US for integration like their laptop chips do, meaning its cost should be untouched by tariffs for US customers.
>>108457257No.
>>108457049I just ordered a 4tb nvme and am sending back the 2tb nvme I initially ordered. Should I keep the 2tb as well? got a good price on it

My i7 4790k is still going strong. And with a 4060 RTX I can just fake frames with DLSS performance M profile 90+fps, or cap a 45fps and fillup with smooth motion.I'm very interested in 2nm products, but I can pull through this crisis no sweat.

Of course it's going to get worse. Too much fab capacity has been devoted to GPUs for too long. On top of that, production is going to be winding down as they run out of helium over the next two months.
>>108457352If you can afford to keep both, yes, I would keep it.
>>108459057If you have spare slots in any of your servers that are compatible with any of your parts here I would move them over. Same for whatever your primary computer is if that isn't an option.
>>108459185Thanks for the suggestions but my servers and my primary computer already have slots occupied, with very similar parts actually>DesktopRX 6700XTXonar Essence STX>NASRTX 3060PCI-e SATAAdditional NIC>AI ServerRTX 3090RTX 3060
>>108459251I don't really have anything to suggest then. Most of the parts are of little value except maybe the SSDs, and even then they're not hugely useful but still big enough to try and do something with in this climate. You could give them to someone who needs a computer (sans the hard drives). That's about all I can think of. If the SSDs are m2 form you could get an enclosure and use them as big USB sticks. You have enough hardware to suggest you could afford to just buy a 1TB USB though, and you already have your NAS. Could give those to people too I guess. In conclusion, I think they're mostly e-waste.
>e-wasteyeah, nah, I'll go ahead and install fagOS on the i7

I keep all my old gaming pcs running as headless servers. My current gaming pc is just used for LLMs since I don't really game anymore.I kind of regret building an AM5 machine last year even though I did it when prices were cheap, I should've built an epyc workstation and put 4 3090s in it. I could've built it for under $4k at the time and had 256GB of 8 channel ddr4 with 96GB of vram.Instead I have 64GB of dual channel ddr5 and a 24GB vram in my 7900xtx. Granted it cost me under $2k but I could be doing way more with a beefy AI workstation instead of a gaming pc I don't play games on.
>>108457049It has to be fake scarcity at this point. They saw what that AI bullshit did to memory and decided they wanted a piece of the pie.
You will soon own nothing and you WILL be happy. You better hope your Palantir social credit will be good enough to let you rent something better than a shitty Celeron netbook.
