I sure hope you aren't throwing away old hardware, anon.
>>
>>108457049
nope. i still have my pentium 2 sitting right here
>>
I hope this hurts.

what's the excuse this time? still datacenters?
>>
end it
>>
Just boycott all cloud services as much as possible. Are you people stupid?
>>
>>108457049
don't really care. the hardware I have (and the extra stuff I have around here somewhere) can run any game I would ever want to play.
actually I'm thinking of buying more older hardware, modernity is a disease
>>
>>108457085
China can't get Iranian oil to make cheap stuff anymore.
>>
the shortage is necessary to enforce a service-based economy. That's corporations hate the AGPL license.
>>
>>108457232
Good thing the corporations won't keep the lights on soon enough. I wish them all bankruptcy. All of them. And mass unemployment.
>>
I wonder if trumps plan is to doompill people into voting for him by making thier lives worse

Shouldn't chip supply improve as Intel moves to 18a for both laptop (panther lake) and desktop (nova lake) , freeing up tsmc production for other vendors? Nova lake especially should be nice, since it doesn't need to leave the US for integration like their laptop chips do, meaning its cost should be untouched by tariffs for US customers.
>>
>>108457257
No.
>>
>>108457049
I just ordered a 4tb nvme and am sending back the 2tb nvme I initially ordered. Should I keep the 2tb as well? got a good price on it

TSMC is about to be deleted, anon, this isn't going to get better

Have a dual core pentium e6500 on XP with a 750 and 2x 1TB and 8GB (four unused) and a core 2 quad 8400 that boots into win 7 or XP with a 970 and 1x 2TB and 8GB both on AHCI, need to make that a 16GB

Have another box with Win 2K pro SP4 and an NT4.0 SP 5 optiplex as well and a pile of other stuff. It's an offline LAN so I can do what the fuck I like

They are. That's how our world ended up in this mess of a timeline.

but of course, offline lan for the real win.

never, I only upgrade when my current hardware is so obsolete it's worth jack shit. There's no point selling it for the £15 cash or £20 credit when it's worth more to me as a backup

idk man, the progress slowed down so much that my 4 year old midrange desktop is pretty much as good as when I built it

everything is going to be more expensive because they cannot generate the profits by units sold anymore, so the few units they are selling have to make up for that.

My i7 4790k is still going strong.
And with a 4060 RTX I can just fake frames with DLSS performance M profile 90+fps, or cap a 45fps and fillup with smooth motion.

I'm very interested in 2nm products, but I can pull through this crisis no sweat.

I'm on a 3700X and 512GB Crucial SSD from 2019 bruh

gpus are the same price they were a year ago, cpus are cheaper, mobos even more so

I'll take the chance to ask this.
I have 2 puters that I'm not currently using and I'm looking to suggestion on what to do with them
>puter 1
Phenom II X6 1055T
Gigabyte 890GX
16GB DDR3
GTX 550Ti (or RX570)
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS
1TB Samsung

>puter 2
i7-6700K (or i7-7700K or Pentium G4560)
Gigabyte H110
RX470
SoundBlaster Audigy Rx
1TB Kingston SDD

Disclaimer: I already have home servers

Impressive, very nice.
>>
Of course it's going to get worse. Too much fab capacity has been devoted to GPUs for too long. On top of that, production is going to be winding down as they run out of helium over the next two months.
>>
>>108457352
If you can afford to keep both, yes, I would keep it.
>>
>>108459057
If you have spare slots in any of your servers that are compatible with any of your parts here I would move them over. Same for whatever your primary computer is if that isn't an option.
>>
>>108459185
Thanks for the suggestions but my servers and my primary computer already have slots occupied, with very similar parts actually
>Desktop
RX 6700XT
Xonar Essence STX
>NAS
RTX 3060
PCI-e SATA

>AI Server

RTX 3060
>>
>>108459251
I don't really have anything to suggest then. Most of the parts are of little value except maybe the SSDs, and even then they're not hugely useful but still big enough to try and do something with in this climate.
You could give them to someone who needs a computer (sans the hard drives). That's about all I can think of. If the SSDs are m2 form you could get an enclosure and use them as big USB sticks. You have enough hardware to suggest you could afford to just buy a 1TB USB though, and you already have your NAS. Could give those to people too I guess.
In conclusion, I think they're mostly e-waste.
>>
>e-waste
yeah, nah, I'll go ahead and install fagOS on the i7
>>
>Check how much the 4TB SSD costs I ordered couple of years ago

I keep all my old gaming pcs running as headless servers. My current gaming pc is just used for LLMs since I don't really game anymore.
I kind of regret building an AM5 machine last year even though I did it when prices were cheap, I should've built an epyc workstation and put 4 3090s in it. I could've built it for under $4k at the time and had 256GB of 8 channel ddr4 with 96GB of vram.
Instead I have 64GB of dual channel ddr5 and a 24GB vram in my 7900xtx. Granted it cost me under $2k but I could be doing way more with a beefy AI workstation instead of a gaming pc I don't play games on.
>>
>>108457049
It has to be fake scarcity at this point. They saw what that AI bullshit did to memory and decided they wanted a piece of the pie.

You better hope your Palantir social credit will be good enough to let you rent something better than a shitty Celeron netbook.

now show us your electricity bills
bet you don't need heater for winter season
>>
>>108457049
Maingear custom PC I bought in February is $430 more right now. Exact same build.
>>
>>108460829
My rental agreement includes free electricity because there's solar on the roof. My UPS shows 190w sustained on two headless servers plus network gear and my AM5 machine is only on when I run queries.
>heating for winter
Where I live you don't even need heat in the winter. The summer is rough and I'm debating moving my stack to the garage so I'm not running the AC harder than I need to.
>>
>>108457049
>make all hardware prohibitively expensive
>AI bubble crashes
>hardware becomes cheap as fuck after

I have multiple good laptops and GPU's sitting around to ride out the storm, although I might get a midrange GPU and CPU while I can just in case

Believe it or not, there are mouth breathing retards everywhere who are not only using "cloud" ie. SaaS software, but also defending AI slop and the slopificiation of all media, software and services.

We live in a land of retards anon. Some of us are just slightly less retarded.
>>
>>108457352
If you had any sense you'd look up the current price and arbitrage the difference in price by selling the 2TB privately (if any profit is to be gained).

My old 6700k, 5700XT rig is hooked up to my TV to play couch games. Also, my network gear is good enough now that I don't experience latency when I stream from my main PC.
>>
I guess I'm glad I was too lazy to resell my 12600K and 5600X I had from old systems.
>>
>>108457141
>modernity is a disease

I kinda agree with this. Might install Windows 7 on my old 2011 rig and OS X Mavericks back onto my 2015 MBP so I can use 32bit apps again.
>>
>>108457153
i think the opposite is true? iran is still shipping their own oil through it and explicitly requiring people to pay with chinese yuan to piss off the US. not only is china still getting their oil (only like 10% of it came from iran) but other countries that previously sanctioned iran like india are getting oil from them. hell i think even the US has bought some
>>
