why is it so bad? the usual sites either don't have what I'm looking for or the quality is so bad that i'd rather just pay for it. that's what I've been doing, just ripping files from audible. it works fine but i'm annoyed that i don't have a choice.
>>108461013how do you rip files from Audible?
>>108461119you can only rip files from books you own. i use libation
>>108461013You're right it does suck. There's audiobookbay and you can find some audiobooks on soulseek but that's all I know about.
because its nichenobody really cares about audiobooks
There’s plenty on Usenet/private trackers. You just suck at piracy. Pro tip: Use audiobookshelf to create a private RSS feed and load it into a good podcast player. Mine (Overcast) has voice boost and a damn good smart speed that makes audiobooks so much more enjoyable.
>>108461013You have no idea how long it took me to find the og dune audiobook from 80s brother and the version i have sounds like azz
https://librivox.org/I like public domain classics.
>>108463080>shorter silencesgo back to tiktok lil zoomie.
Why the fuck are 90% of audiobooks only 64kbps? I get a 15-50 hour long audio file is going to be big, but I'm pretty sure at least 128 would still result in an acceptable file size without s's and p's and such having crunchy compression artifacts you can clearly hear.
>>108461013>the usual sitesWhat would those be? For most popular languages, Myanonanous has quite a lot of stuff in my limited experience, and for anything that's missing you can just get a free trial of Audible, Storytel, etc and rip everything yourself (and hopefully upload it afterwards for other Anons' benefit).>>108463080>There’s plenty on Usenet/private trackersWhat do you use besides MaM? I'm in BiB as well, but for audiobooks it's not even as good as Audiobookbay.>>108463780>Why the fuck are 90% of audiobooks only 64kbps?Human voice requires a comparatively narrow range of frequencies. Especially with modern codecs like Opus and AAC 64kbps is more than enough.
