What's the best use cases for Smart TVs?

NoneNo, I don't want a big Netflix button on the remote. No, I don't want you constantly listening to me.No, I don't want you constantly watching me through the camera. No, I don't want you to connect to the internet. No, I don't want you to display ads for the latest Disney garbage as soon as I turn you on. No, I don't want to have to use your shitty OS that takes forever to respond. No, I don't want to update you. No, I don't want you to offer to stream my phone every time I watch porn. I just want the equivalent of a bigger PC monitor, just a basic thing where I can adjust the brightness, contrast, and color balance.
I was using my samsung smart TV today (unplugged from the internet of course) hooked up to my PC when I randomly got a pairing request from some stranger's phone. I clicked deny, but my question is how this was possible when all networking is "disabled"?
My Smart TV is Android. I use it to play videos from the Jellyfin server running on the router above it. So there's no running parts besides an external hdd running to watch stuff. Retroarch plays everything up to PS2 since the TV has like a quad core 2ghz with 2gb ram built into it, the games are read from the fileshare running off the router. So all those games can be played on the TV itself without need to turn on my PC. TV has something like 32gb storage so I can fit thousands of roms on it too.And then the best feature is just casting your phone or laptop to the TV casually to watch things on the bigger screen you found on the smaller device.Basically the smart stuff replaces the need for a PC to be connected
How do we jailbreak these things or install something useful on them instead of spyware?

>>108464016To act as a display for a HTPC. I have a shitty vizio one that is connected to a blackhole network that lets it see it has internet when it checks but everything else is dropped. I tried to take the wireless card out of it but it would refuse to boot without it. I didn't want to cut the antennas since that's a quick way to burn out a wireless card putting me back in the failed boot problem. It was a $180 TV that has worked fine for about five years now without issue.

I have a dumb TV and would just hook up my mini PC. No ads. But ever since I got a projector with GoogleTV I just sometimes feel lazy and watch a show or YouTube on there even with ads. Ads are still annoying but it looks like they've been making them shorter and shorter because they know people will just switch to a different app or watch something they own without ads if they get too long.>>108464306The wifi may be off but the Bluetooth is always on (unless you can shut it off). I think almost all smart TV devices are like that to sync with speakers.>>108464433For my projector with there's an app called Projectivy Launcher which basically takes over the system so you don't see the smartTV ad stuff. I wouldn't mind the recomendations the OS does if it wasn't for the fact that they keep recommending movies and TV from services I'm not subscribed to or have installed. Also it would be much better if we could find a way to reprogram those awful Netflix buttons on the remotes. I have a huge one right above my 4k player remote's UP button. The same shaped curve, almost the same size. There's been so many times that I accidentally press it while watching a movie and it starts loading Netflix, which i don't even have.

There isn't one. That's why I got Sony that I can setup as a Basic TV with 0 smart garbage no internet but still have best display tech
