I prefer using cheaper and weaker hardware since my tasks aren't too complex, having the DE using up resources isn't too viable, I'd rather run something like MATE since it's close enough, it's a fork of GNOME 2 afterall, and includes settings that make it look more modern, like a preset that makes it look like Unity. GNOME's still good though.
