Yeah I just looked into shader for mpv, and I wouldn't ever need any of those for anything. I only have 1080 screens. Don't care at all about upscaling or software stuff that does what my TV can do. I'll just use adaptive luma setting if I'm watching a movie where I care about darks. I don't watch movies or tv, mostly podcasts in the background, and only use mpv for stuff I've actually downloaded, none of which is entertainment.
