AGI is 99% here, it can spit out featured quality articles about any topic tailored to your favoured POV and doesn't care about notability. The fact that Wikipedia banned AI editors means they are coping hard. Grokipedia is just the start, GPTpedia, Geminipedia and Claudepedia are coming next.Wikipedia has already lost most of their editors and once the current generation of admins retire or die of old age they won't be replaced. It's basically boomerpedia now.As someone who has had their life ruined by Wikipedia I will throw a party when Wikipedia shuts down.

If you're a still a Wikipedian in 2026 you are a left-wing nazi, pure and simple.
>>108478111holy shit wikipedia has gone from literally infallible to fundamentally broken
its all propaganda and trannywarehow could i be so blind aaaa
>>108478134How did Wikipedia ruin your life? Did they make an article about you then protected it?
>>108477467He's another Alabama man, just like Tim Cook, but instead of homosexuality, Jimbo's thing is porn. Before stumbling onto the wiki grift, he tried to be an internet porn baron but somehow failed to make money at it. He knew the internet was where he was going to grift but he didn't know how. Wikipedia is something he stumbled across while trying out a bunch of money making ideas and it turned out to be far more lucrative than he ever imagined. "Organizing the world's knowledge" wasn't a passion of his, he just wanted to make fat stacks and it turned out getting free labor from the public (and now endless donations) was the way to make that happen.
>>108478205based
>>108478191Basically years of Wiki lies on every possible topic takes its toll even on the most based of chuds.
>>108478264This. I am tired of having to exchange words with brainlets who consider wikipropaganda as truth
what's fascinating about black and white thinking is that collapses others to the same thing because of it. so wikipedia has to be lies on every topic (wikipropaganda) and if you disagree you obviously love wikipedia and take it as gospel. what a way to live and think
>>108476991You mean co-founder?
>>108477041Based. I refuse to pay online except when it's unavoidable, and I don't have an adblocker on my phone, so I do my bit for 4chan and can't do anything for Wikipedia without compromising my principles. But I do correct spelling and grammar errors when I see them.
>>108478191>How did Wikipedia ruin your life?it didn't he just has a pathological desire to feel important.
>>108477201>so the whole site is like 20GBThis is clearly bullshit. There are entire public-domain films hosted on Wikipedia.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wizard_of_Oz_(1925_film)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jazz_Singerhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_domain#Films
>>108478529The 20GB figure probably is for text. Certainly there are articles that need images, or even animations, to be effective but hosting entire movies isn't necessary.
>>108478508>>108478360you wont get upvotes here for defending wikipedia's reputation, mate
I budget 10 % of my earnings for donations of various sorts. Wikipedia has always been part of that via a monthly subscription of $8(CAD)
>>108476991Important to note that 48% spend on infrastructure is also highly inflated with unnecessary staff salaries and whatnot, the actual cost to run their infra is around 3 million USD a year in cloud hosting.with their current budget they could operate the site for many decades without further donations.>>108478595You should reconsider that considering your money is likely not going to actually serving the site but straight into some executives salary.

>>108478134AI Is "downstream" from encyclopedias and human authors. They are alright at summarising and memorising what's already out there i guess (and have been trained on the entirety of human output at this point with questionable legality), but they are very bad at distilling information and presenting it in a logical way, you know like teachers or article writers would. Stuff that requires reasoning.Just giving you an example from a random math pagehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_decompositionhttps://grokipedia.com/page/QR_decompositionThe wikipedia article is clear and concise with examples in the right spots, while the grok article is full of wordy AI slop that's almost impossible to wade through.

>>108478593>critique black and white framing that collapse all nuance>immediately interpreted as taking a side within that frameyeah i'm from reddit and love wikipedia. probably paid by them
>>108478719>black and white framingthere is no black and white framing here except in your headwikipedia is compromised by bad actors, it's a known factfor example if you are eating at a restaurant and i take a shit on your pizza, the said pizza is compromised, uncleanthere is no debatei cant say "hold on now, wait a minute, now let's not jump to black and white framing, there's a slice there untouched go ahead and eat it"no. it's filthy, dirty, corrupt, broken. there is no nuance. you wouldn't eat the remaining pizza. or if you do eat it, the room still smells like shit and nothing can change that.when i open wikipedia it smells like shit.
>>108478775you say there is no black and white framing but then immediately double down on a analogy that only fucking works if everything is either fully clean or fully ruined? whether partial contamination means or justifies total invalidation is what is under dispute. your pizza analogy is retarded because a pizza is a single static object whereas wikipedia is a constantly evolving distributed process
Not entering the discussion but it's important to note that the editorialization on wikipedia heavily depends on the subject matter. The pages on the sciences and ancient history generally are very good, only really with controversial recent events and people, less than 1% of the site, you can notice a bias sometimes.and not necessarily a left-wing political bias that's just chuds crying, more of a "we are trying so hard to be neutral that we don't present all the facts" type of bias.
>>108478881wikipedia has cancer, and no amount of cope can help it nowwe accept it and wait until the patient dies, however long that takesyou can choose to ignore it but that doesnt mean it's healthy and cancer free
>>108477041I had to make an account on Wikipedia to stop seeing that new retarded 90% blank space interface wtfdym
>>108478948i don't need things to be completely healthy to be able to extract value from and use them is my point. i'm not arguing that either, you just think i am, which is what i'm taking issue with. the alternatives do not have to be irreversible systemic failure OR completely healthy
>>108476991I donated crypto currency to Wikipedia. When Brave was rolling out BAT payments through their browser, I set up a mouse macro to click on random websites to build up rewards overnight. Stupid me, turns out it wasn’t so straight forward to withdraw the crypto but they gave an option to donate everything you had, so I just sent it all to Wikipedia.
They have plenty of money. Normal people do most of the worst and the entire database isn't even that big. They just run it as a scam. And they have been ideologically poisoning articles for some time now.
>>108478775>wikipedia is compromised by bad actors, it's a known factThis should be substantiated before continuing this conversation
>>108478998>irreversible systemic failureyea that's how corruption worksa system is corrupt = you cant trust it completely anymorethere's not a certain level of corruption under which people magically erase their doubts about it and start fresh, doesnt work like that, especially with wikipedia >>108479028and then there's this guy who is asking for substantiated peer reviewed studies on wikipedia corruption while eating the shit pizza.
>>108479028
>>108479063i'm not arguing for complete trust either, you just think i am because you operate in binaries but do not realize it. trust can be partial or conditional. that's how people use most sources.

>>108479136>you operate in binaries but do not realize itno, it's just that i realize the gravity of this absurd level and scale of corruption in wikipedia. you rely on a system to give you the truth, instead it's overtaken on certain topics by people who just bend reality according to their will and paycheck. it's a fundamental level of distrust, beyond fixing.
>>108479926one should take everything on wikipedia with a grain of salti've learned a lot on wiki from articles i've found informative, but on subjects on which i'm an expert on i realize that there is a lot to be desired and i am likely not knowledgeable enough to recognize that with less familiar topics
>>108479956>one should take everything on wikipedia with a grain of saltif wikipedia was a person that just blatantly lied to your face about certain subjects again and again you would think they're some sort of schizophrenic retard. but because it's an online "distributed system" we became so desensitised and so dumb to this absolute betrayal that we think >eh, it's cool, doesnt matter, has some good parts too thothis has nothing to do with binary thinking, it's just common sense.
>>108480012you sound like you're having a melty over your fascist propaganda getting revertedi use wikipedia mainly for math and hard science related reasons, you know, things that have less personal bias and that one can verify by other means
