Is it true you can build a career by creating botting software for MMORPGs? How do you even defeat the AC and its "heartbeat" tho?
Yes it's true. However if you are in the US or EU I would be pretty careful, the new norm is to turn people like this into legal debt slaves.
>>108483007>the new norm is to turn people like this into legal debt slavesPlease elaborate.
>>108483485he is joking
>>108482994OMG I love Lineage 2 so much is insane. A better question for yourself OP would be: would I like to make a living doing harm and destroying something a lot of people enjoy or will I do something honorable and feel good about myself?
>>108482994i built a bot for asherons call when i was in high school. i sold it on irc for weed money.
>>108483485These companies will just sue the shit out of you. Of course none of this matters if you're not in the US or EU, or don't care. Depending on how you do this can be very lucrative.
>>108483648What if the bot developer releases from behind a VPN and accepts payment via Monero? Also not every popular MMORPG made by US companies, Asian companies won't care mostly. Also I still believe most US companies too won't care.
>>108483762Just look into the game you want to start developing cheats for. Nexon and Blizzard WILL end your life over this. Idk all the specifics, but just cover your ass.
>>108482994I can only speak for what I know but I'm fairly sure you can make some decent extra cash in Path of Exile through various means like automated crafting and shit like that. I know there are some actual bots (characters that run same layouts repeatedly) but those are probably not worth the time and effort to set up in that game. The best value you get in that game money wise is crafting and that can be very easily automated (the game even supports you copying stats of an item to clipboard lol)personally I've only sold my own stuff for 150-200€ per season but I don't do anything like that, I just play normally and sell it off when I stop playing. I've dabbled in automating crafting a few times but I actually like the game so I didn't bother to go very hard on it

>>108482994>Is it true you can build a career by creatingYes. You can build a career by just CREATING.Do SOMETHING. The world works on building/creating. Not grifting. If you're not a builder, you're a grifter.
>>108482994I knew a guy that made a private subscription based bot for an old MMO and had it running for 10~ years, he made millions off it as is essentially set for life.
>>108482994During the golden Runescape 3 ages before the Venezuelan economic collapse causing the entire Vennie population to move into Runescape and destroying the GP value with THEIR goldselling, I used to sell gold and boosting for about 30 euro an hour, which got me out of poverty (x3 minimum wage). Post-vennie crash it was 10 euro at best, plus irl economic inflation that made this worth even less.I was on track to make a botfarm, but then the collapse hit plus I had finally gotten a decently paying and fun job that I went back to playing the game recreationally. That's a big thing too. I don't suggest you try to monetize your favorite MMO, it will ruin the whole game for you. On the other hand, you will have a lot more knowledge to use from the start. Double edged sword I guess. The MMO black market is also extremely competitive and regulated by big organizations. South American cartels unironically are heavily involved in the Runescape black market, for example.
>>108484495Addendum: Sythe.org is a great starting point to get more information on how the MMO black markets work
>>108484495>got me out of povertyimpressive
>>108482994I was botting in wow for about a decade. Being banned is just cost of doing businessStopped around wod since I got truckloads from bitcoin
>>108485007I hope you are not lying, I'm happy for you then

>>108483485He is not joking on the contrary to what other anons are saying. Big game corporations are allowed to literally enslave you for the rest of your life if you are caught violating their IP in any way. Look up Gary Bowser Nintendo for examples. They have the power to legally siphon money directly from your paychecks for the rest of your natural life.
I thought this was Last Chaos for a second
>>108487578I dont live in opressed countries but even if i were, i would not stand up to that, id rather go with a bang and start killing all those who have wronged me than to suck it up like a little bitch for the rest of my life, that isnt living its a curse. You americans gotta get some balls.
>>108482994Circumventing kernel level anticheat for fps games is bigger business these days.
>>108482994the botting software is only one part of the business model, you need a realistic way of selling gold/items/accounts, you need a source of hacked accounts or you need to be making so much profit that you can afford to buy new accounts and waste time botting them to max level, you need employees because someone has to be monitoring all the bots at all times to minimize risk, etc...
>Is it true you can build a career by creating botting software for MMORPGs?yes although from what i can see its basically not worth it unless you are very very poor or willing to move to a very low cost-of-living place like thailand or something (and even then you'll just be scraping by). Most "botters" are actually running their "farms" at a deficit once you account for server costs, account costs & their time. Dont listen to the bullshit people say about earning millions off of it, its all bullshit (people actually exaggerate on the internet, can you believe it?). Maybe a few people have made over a million, like ever, but its usually middle men running the gold selling sites & taking cuts off everything, not the actual botters.>How do you even defeat the ACsame way you defeat AC in any game, reverse engineer and bypass it. This takes a shit ton of time and is one of the reasons its usually not worth it. >"heartbeat"i wonder what do you mean by this?
>>108483648Even in the u.s. the likelihood of a judge sizing you assets because of a civil lawsuit is slim to none. Just look at Alex Jones.
>>108491530>same way you defeat AC in any game, reverse engineer and bypass itthen the anti-cheat just goes kernel level once this is enough of a problem and you've fucked everyone because you're a selfish cunt who wants to make a little bit of money while you ruin everybodys mmo experience
>>108482994It's probably even more easy and profitable to make the MMORPG itself and then create some shady looking website to sell the gold you can just input into the database. It's like making your own central bank, infinite money glitch until someone figures it out (most likely not) or until people get bored of the game.
>>108489086Don't worry bro, they got that second amendment to defend themselves from the g-HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH OH WAIT THEY ONLY USE THOSE GUNS TO SHOOT UP KINDERGARTENS AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH
>>108482994I have a better question: If you were to build an MMO, how would you protect it from the bot cancer? (something besides paywall).
>>108494788I'm pretty sure that is extremely illegal, and if glowies find out, they will put you behind the bars for life.
>>108496813Highlevel statistics.>How many herbs did this Account pick in relation to playtime or amount of quests completed.>How far did he travel in relation to some other stats>How many dungeons did he complete in relation to ...Flag an account at certain % deviation from average and let them be checked by someone manually.
