I got into CS and all this debt because I wanted to sit at a desk and be trained on the job, but eventually learnt that employers haven't done this for decades now. I never touched grass and rarely go outside or talk to people so I thought this job would be easy for me. I still have 0 friends and connections and never ended up building any.
I graduated as a useless programmer and passed mostly because I cheated on everything with Chatgpt. I still don't even know what modulus or the stack and heap is. So what exactly can I do if I consistently won't dedicate myself to the bare minimum? I don't enjoy coding or mental problem solving at all, I haven't even coded for a year. But I don't want a barista or uber driver job, I don't want to be a warehouse slave, I want a ferrari, mansion and suit collection like tony stark. I still don't know what I want to do, maybe because I don't want to do anything except wake up, doomscroll, sleep and wait to die.
Even without "passion" in consideration, its just a fact some people are good enough and can make it, others don't have what it takes and are culled out of existence. It's something ancestrally inherent if not to genetics then to metabolism. I'm not Nikola Tesla, I'm "Medieval illiterate peasant #639290". So now I accept I will decay without making a name for myself and die alone in obscurity. And finally I will burn in hell for eternity because there is no forgiveness or redemptions for losers that waste the soul gifted to them. Picrel is me and it's all over.

>I cheated on everything with Chatgpt
kids sure have it easy these days

This was me until I started using GNU/Guix. It changed my life. Learn declarative system configuration and package management anon.

>>108486433
I just use AI, makes it all a lot nicer.

Didn't read, but tech career is for masochists / bdsm aficionados, business & management will hate your guts for having to pay you so much in their eyes and make your life a living hell. Your brain will be turned to mush from having to deal with people who breathe code and are braindead / lobotomized / drinking the koolaid. That's for dev, data is even worse

>Software engineering is NOT for everybody
That's what frameworks are for
>>
>>108486442
This is the real reason why no one hires post 2022 grads

true real chads do finance or people facing roles..

sitting inside staring at a screen all day is insane

>I still don't know what modulus is
wtf??????
>>
>>108486433
just put the fries in the bag, lilbro.
there's no place for retards like you in the industry, especially with llms.
>>
>>108486433
Just get some low level helpdesk or sysadmin job. No it won't pay amazingly but you are not giving yourself many options. Luckily for you, it's braindead and you won't be doing much if any coding.
>>
>>108486433
Just get into linux and become a sysadmin/devops guy, thats where most of the failed software devs end up
>>
>>108487326
>true real retards do finance or people facing roles..
fify
>>
>>108486526
Thats why you go to a company that primarily does software
>>108487326
As if finance is any better lmao
>>
>>108486473
not op nor in his situation but will do this soon after learning enough of emacs and finishing sicp
literally can't wait
>>
>>108486433
It's not software engineering, it's that you have no purpose, therefor you seek cheap excitement & have no *drive* for anything.

Touch some grass, literally. Go outside, without a phone or anything, sit on the grass, look at the sky and trees, smell the flowers, then maybe you'd see what is beautiful. It's the spring, it will only get worse from this season.

You need not to frame yourself to any modern jewish form. Find yourself, what you like, and what you want to do. Don't think about it as a job, or a hobby, but *who you are*. Then if you are a bird you can fly, if a fish you can swim.

In the infinity of the universe you can find the finite state of your happiness, thus your purpose.

>goes outside and touches grass
>realises that literally any form of wageslavery or toil is inferior to simply relaxing outside
Well, not sure that helped.
>>
>>108488029
Yes, exactly this. Don't waste your time wageslaving, if you're forced to have a job, find something that gives you happiness.
>>
>>108487326
Every job requires you doing repetitive stuff.
>>
>>108486433
Try a thought experiment for me. If you were told the only way you can make money for the rest of your life is to sell socks or you will burn in an eternal hell, how would you do it? How would you make your first $100? 1000?

Best jobs in the world? Residential trade you can do solo. Plumbing, electric, HVAC. Man and van shit, just houses, no big sites. Obviously not the more labor intensive stuff like landscaping. Ideally you want to be solo and not have to deal with some fag partner all day. If you don't even want to learn a trade, delivery and postal jobs are also pretty chill. Basically any job where you don't have to deal with A: an office full of people or B: a worksite full of rough contractors. Closest thing in IT to this would be residential support or even something as cushy as setting up wifi for boomers who can't do it themselves. Basically, learn to drive and have a clean license and the comfy jobs are unlocked, as comfy as jobs can be anyway. I'm trying to become a postman. Man, I wish milkmen were still a thing, that would be comfy as fuck, but I've not sen one in over a decade.

At least you get the big money and neat perks like remote work.
Hardware is the real masochist side of tech.
We don't get paid as much, don't get remote work and the WLB is usually absolute dogshit unless you are at some boomer low paying defense company because of prototype/manufacturing deadlines. Going freeland is almost impossible because all tools are expensive as shit and major companies (who are 95% of hardware employers because doing a hardware startup is straight up suicidal without 10x as much funding as a similar sized software startup would need) usually don't hire contractors.
Also, the better hardware jobs usually require masters or PhD and the top of the ladder is full of academia-style snobbery and nepotism because the teams are full of people with PhDs that only hire other PhDs who worked under a supervisor they are friends with from the same uni or some retarded convention.
I'm pretty sure 99% of us working on hardware didn't know what we were really getting into and either realized too late and had no option but to continue or developed some mental illness on the way that prevents us from becoming something else, because holy shit. Going into this and not changing to something else when I realized how things were going to turn out has been the most life-ruining shit I have ever done. I had super high grades so I could have pivoted to pretty much anything else through a masters, and I just didn't. I really don't know what the fuck I was thinking. Now it is pretty much impossible due to age, the market going to shit and spending the little time I have outside of work just exhausted.
The other 1% are turboautists who have wet dreams about transistors that you will NEVER be able to compete against because their brain will be able to tolerate 12 hours of work straight without losing any performance at all. They are also usually terrible at communication and part of the snobbery problem I mentioned, so good luck learning from them.

> I want a ferrari, mansion and suit collection like tony stark
So it's unlikely that you can become an actor or at least a gay whore, right?
> I'm not Nikola Tesla, I'm "Medieval illiterate peasant #639290".
But he started as one... People born with a silver spoon in their mouth usually don't contract cholera, like Tesla once did.

Not to mention that most of the few companies that pay a lot for hardware are Google, Meta and other software-focused places like that where you get treated like a problematic underclass because the softwarebrained retards and their investors just don't understand the realities and limitations of dealing with hardware nor, plus they can lay off an entire hardware department after the product comes out because hardware products ACTUALLY FUCKING WORK when they are shipped, so you don't need to keep
The only big high pay place that actually treats you with some respect and where you won't worry about getting laid off every quarter is Apple (which isn't even that high paying for current tech standards) but even there you have a 75% chance of landing at a team with absolutely terrible WLB because of the consumer electronics production cycle being so short. If you get unlucky enough to land at some team related to the iphone, you might as well kill yourself or get a lobotomy and fully drink the Apple koolaid, cause you are never leaving that office. Plus, you will have to compete against infinite Indians to get in because Apple to them is like what working for Ferrari must be for a car lover.
If anyone here is interested on hardware as a proffessional career and doesn't think they are part of the 1% autistic übermensch class, STAY THE FUCK OUT, or at least do embedded which isn't as hellish (but really at that point just do software. The day to day experience is very similar but better pay and perks and more places to work for).

Say I will rather burn in hell. Smuggle socks into hell. Chocke Lucifer with a long string of socks tied together. Take selfies, cut his horn off and sell to the highest bidder.

>so you don't need to keep
*so you don't need to keep people around to patch things out like what they do to their software shit that comes out broken and then they spend a year of retarded buroucratic allignment checks to release a patch that could have been done in a week.

Thank you for assuaging some of my anxieties regarding unemployment. I haven't put much effort forth into applying, though I graduate this semester, and knowing that this is my competition makes me feel better.
