Does it have any advantage over storing and writing everything digitally? People used to make concept arts and write things down on paper, filling thousands of pages.

Digital artists being able to draw physically is a flex these days, most artists ctrl+z like 95% of the lines they make, almost like they can't draw worth a damn, and every coherent line they make is an accident.

yea real difference in workflow whilst taking notes out in the field

>unzip phone
>adjust brightness
>finger other apps trying to open notes
>wait for notes app to load
>write in shame while colleagues stare at you helplessly

vs.

>whip out pad and paper
>test pen for ink
>summon inner doctor as you gather info
>attempt to decipher prescription afterwards

having hard copies is nice though, i will say, but physical file management is its own beast lol.

Same as physical books vs readers: there is pleasure in holding the pen, feeling it brush and scrap against the paper, flipping those pages... Also no bright light constantly firing at your eyes.

I prototype programs for my graphing calculators on paper to reduce the amount of typing I have to do on them. It doesn't catch all errors, but enough to be useful.
I also take notes on a paper notepad.

i use it when i need to handroll calculations for algos or figuring tricky geometric stuff out

As far as actually learning how to draw goes, paper is superior exactly because it's more limited. Computer illustration programs give you a lot more control and abilities that one can become over reliant on. The classic example of Ctrl+z holds exactly because many digital artists (myself included) use it as if it were an extension of their own body.
Drawing on paper brings your attention more to you movements when making marks, and trains your precision in drawing, something that carries over in to digital.

I spent some months learning to draw straight lines and better circles on paper, and it helped improve my digital drawings.

lol just playin mostly but really i'd rather not mix sensitive info with my grocery lists, which is where the pad helps

Ironically, the image in OP seems AI-generated.

You can use another app for that

Extenders. When your pencil gets shorter from usage you put them in one of these to use it to the nib

Everything digital is as good as stolen, unless you are a TempeOS user.

I carry around a write in rain 3x5 softcover notebook. It has a cut in the back cover with some reinforcing tape to hold a pencil not larger than the length of the notebook. I jot shit down all the time on it and i have a hand drawn calender that utilizes the grid paper to figure out what the fuck is goi g on that week. I hate the calender app on my phone.
I often jot down questions for later when im not busy. Ideas for cad and mechanical projects. To do lists, etc.
I vastly prefer it to using a phone. And writing down things im supposed to commit to memory that isnt critically sensitive like a neat quote or tidbit of info helps me commit to memory better.

It's more likely the guy copied an AI generated picture onto his notebook. Trad "artists" always do this shit. What is even the point?
