>Engineering exam
>Get nearly all of the conceptual questions right
>Think Im getting A at this point
>last question is a calculation one encompassing like 3 topics at once
>I make one error on it and now my grade drops to a 63
Can someone explain why the fuck they format exams like that? If the exam is made to test my comprehension of the materials, how come conceptual questions are only 1 point and the calculation questions are 10 points where making a single mistake tanks your grade? What the actual fuck is the point of formatting exams this way?
>>
>>108494333
easy question is easy so less points
hard question is hard so more points
no wonder you failed
next question
>>
>>108494346
Conceptual questions involve understanding all of the material
Calculation questions just involve making one mistake and you now fail the test.
The calculation isnt harder, making one singular error just happens to fuck your grade
>>
>>108494333
How many marks was the last question?
>>
>>108494333
>enjineeer
>make silly mistake teehee
>plane crashes
filtered "muh smart but lazy"
>>
>>108494333
Exams are designed to filter people who aren't perfect. If you cannot get everything right 100% then you are not reliable enough to be an engineer. Do you really want to drive on a bridge made by people who make simple computational mistakes? The only reason you aren't immediately expelled from an engineering program for something like this is because they want your money.

10 points with 5 parts. I missed 5 points due to “incorrect procedures”

>>108494355
>if you make one mistake at your job you are fired immediately

>>108494378
Same retarded reply…everyone makes mistakes.
Btw if what you said was true they would expel you for having anything under a B. I sure as hell wont get a B in this course, but Im damn sure going to pass.
>>
>>108494333
you are still in uni? you already lost
>>
>>108494410
Mhm. Parents made me go. I wants to do CC, my dad basically said no you are going to college.
I was financially dependent on them at the time so I had no choice.
This was 4 years ago by the way, I should have graduated by now.
Oh well.
>>
>>108494378
You can build up test taking strategies and go to prep schools designed to help you pass test. it won't mean you're suddenly a good engineer, just that now you can pass the bullshit test if you grind enough of them and memorize enough answers. it's usually not the engineers that get people killed when building things, it's the corporate managers who don't understand the product being made and want to cut cost to please shareholders. this is how the 737MAX planes downed themselves and killed hundreds. it wasn't from a calculation error, it was because corporate managers preferred a bandaid solution to save money.

it's all bullshit and doesn't actually mean anything. good engineers will be good engineers regardless of exam scores, bad ones will still get through the "filter" by grinding it enough, and jewish share holders will demand shit products to squeeze out profit margins regardless.
>>
>>108494422
why go to university for claude code? wtf
>>
>>108494354
then don't make an error you retarded nigger.
if you need more practice then practice more
>>
>>108494593
I can promise you every engineer who ever lived makes mistakes.
>>
>>108494601
but not in final examinations, provided they're important enough
>>
>>108494613
Nope they make mistakes there too.
>>
>>108494675
Who is this "they" exactly? Do you think no one ever achieved a perfect score on an exam? What engineering are you even studying? EE? Aerospace? Mechanical?
>>
>>108494703
None of the above. Im going to build bridges.
>>
>>108494601
>>108494675
Then they (and you, of course) should never become engineers. Sounds like it works as intended.
>>
>>108494741
Its no problem. Im going to pass anyway, just with a C or a D at worse. You just need a 2.00 gpa to graduate, so Im good.
>>
>>108494333
You're an engineer, you fuck up that one calc and a bridge falls on someone
>>
>>108494752
Why do you guys keep repeating this lie? This is not how jobs work in real life.

OP is just making bridges. not rocket engines.

>muh job muh money
You really shouldn't be an engineer
>>
>>108494749
an engineering degree with a 2.0 GPA is worth fuck all
>>
>>108494333
>>108494464
if you can't figure out how to pass the fucking tests you are just low IQ and should pivot to manual labor or kys
>>
its bullshit grading if a calculation mistake gets carried forward and compounds lost marks
>>
>>108494902
Most high end jobs are obtained through nepotism anyway. if OP knows a guy, he's in regardless. you WERE spending time during college building a social network, right OP?
>>
>>108494830
Op is getting a C in statics the only thing he's making is fries.

Holy shit this made me laugh.
Man if only you knew the types of people that work at places like Airbus.
>>
>>108494703
How fucking easy are american engineering exams? I did exams where I was the top result out of 200 people with like an 8 out of 10 and 75% of people didn't even pass.

Most engineers only do calculations as a starting point and then use the formulas to know what to change when the simulations don't show the expected results.
No one has been rawdogging a bridge with pen and paper in like 40 years anon.
>>
>>108495157
they're as easy or hard as you want them to be. go to a shittier school and the standards will be lower. go to a more prestigious school like Harvard or MIT and the exams will be harder. there is no "american exam" for engineering that everyone takes.
>>
>>108494333
To weed out the weak faggots like you
>>
>>108495157
I wouldn't know, I studied in Europe. The stats were similar here too, you just ignore those "people", they are retarded. Nowadays universities became less of an elitist place, since everyone goes to one now, including those who would have been peasants working on fields a hundred years earlier.
>>
>>108494819
this was an example of management ignoring the engineers because all they could think about was securing future funding for NASA and repeated delayed launched were making them look really bad.
>>
>>108495164
surprised no one talks about the amount of surgeons who kill people by sheer "whoops". they all passed the exam, so why did they kill people?
>>
>>108495249
no worries
in some years we will have AI robot surgeons that won't make mistakes
the end of human accountability will come to an end
