>Cannot be vertical like DIMM
>You end up replacing the whole unit when upgrading, instead of adding another to an empty slot
Why is this even an idea? What we need right now is not ultra high-speed RAM, but instead cheaper and bigger capacity modules.

RAM soldered next to the CPU is the future
sodium and came ram is pc goymer copium

>soldered everything
sadly so, that's why i opted out from consoomer brands and switched to server space.
About a month ago I started a project where I simply use server motherboard as a base for DIY laptop.

Can't the industry just make motherboards with more than one CAMM socket?
Of course Micro ATX motherboards will probably only have one socket because they take up a lot more horizontal space than DIMM. But there's no reason to not have at least one additional socket in full ATX motherboards, unless the tech doesn't support this.

seems like a win to me.

Explain to me why DRAM hasn't been layered like flash chips and hbm. It's the obvious solution.

On package ram is the future, soldered ram is a jewish scheme.
>>
>>108498090
ram chips make 1w max of waste heat and that's if egregiously death overclocked, it's 1w max for jedec spec for an entire 8 chip stick. It's fucking nothing.

my 48gb dimms draw up to 6 watts each
for high trefi you want them as cool as possible
>>
>>108498289
Because then you would complain about the price like the retard you are

Most laptops are now thin enough to where you're not going to be stacking them anyway, so you actually end up taking half the horizontal space compared to your typical dual sodimm setup

they wont spare extra memory bus width for consoomers

Get a job.

It's good for laptops because it can use LPDDR
>>
>>108498308

that's because they are passively cooled.
if we could put fans on them trust me they'd crank those numbers up.
>>
>>108497640
ram is still an order of magnitude slower than L cache, so yes we do in fact need ultra high-speed ram

Surely you meant to say fast trefi refresh (low tref). So increase it and accept the 0.25% perf reduction.

>my dd-dr/qr sticks use 4x the power as a simple flat stick
Wow it has 4x the chips and uses 4x the power?
My dual rankers use 3.5 watts on a moderate OC, i can get them down to 1.2 on a jedec spec.
>>108498344
>you would complain about the price
After we hang all these taiwanese fucks the prices will go back to normal. Matter of fact we should be drone killing everyone connected to these retarded price hikes.

But my point is the capacity per space used, and stacking makes the most sense. The tech is headed that way anyways. sram cells just cannot shrink any more without inducing serious problems from refresh requirements. The capacitor cells get too small and they cant hold any fuckin charge. Its why dram is still mostly on 10nm. Even though they've started using UEV the processes are still 10nm class device size same as 12 years ago.

So stack the bastards up. Just do it.

Can anyone tell me why my captcha was a popup of Easy Pete from FNV and why it didn't let me post when my answer was WILEY FUCKIN' PETE YOU BIG GAY BABY

Is this seriously how theyre gonna do captchas now? Age-gating based on video games?
