BONUS: Netflix adds a fake film grain filter not present in the video to hide how shitty and starved the original streams fucking look Congrats AV1 clowns you played yourselvesThe future you all wanted lololololololololol
>>108503545>FGS
>>108503545This is how they’re saving money?
>>108503545Youtube does the same.Every AV1 version of a video is bit starved as fuck compared to AVC or VP9.
Does anyone have actual proof of this besides a fucking:SHITTER. SHIT. SHOT.HITTERSHITSHOT.
>>108503545I was watching some random retro gaming shit on youtube. I could up to 1080p or higher and the screencast still looked like absolute fucking crap. The original resolution was 320x224 I think. If the fuckers gave me the 1920 * 1080 pixels for every one of the 60 frames, with no lossy compression, there's no way it could be shitty. So when you click "1080p", they give you some shitty lossy codec that would give you at most 1080p, so you have to selet 4K to get a decent movie on your tiny 1366x768 laptop screen. That's fucking ridiculous! You're simply not getting what you're paying for. And they get away with it. That's why I go to pirates, unironically they fucking respect me.The vid was:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbfR4JC8FI4 specifically at 7:30-ish mark, spooderman
compression already fucks up film grain
>netflix allegedly does this based on a twitter post>this is av1's fault somehow
>>108503655What in the actual god damn fuck not even rain used to fuck up their compression algorithm THIS fucking badly.
What's the point of high res if it's gonna be absolutely bit starved
>>108503545Share the LinkedIn source
>>108503545>financing jews to curate and produce brainrot for your consumption.Just kill yourself.
>>108503545Ok, so now what? There is no hardware support for av1 on /g/s poormans dual core PCs.You need tiger lake or better. And for applel you need M3 or better
>if company can decide between higher image quality with the same bitrate or "same" (lol) image quality with lower bitrate, company chooses the option which saves them money
Anyone who still gives money to Netflix deserves this kind of customer abuse. I can't even thank paypigs for subsidizing piracy because their bullshit isn't worth watching for free.
>>108503814This. Even if their video quality wasn't insultingly bad their cinematography and much worse their writing is so dogshit bad that it isn't even worth the effort of having it downloaded automatically.
>>108503720they save money obviously
>>108503808that pika lookin well encoded. maybe we should take a crack at reducing that
I can't remember the last time Netflix produced something good.
>>108503545doesn't matter, they killed off physical media, consumers are now slaves to netflix, they will provide the lowest quality of service they're legally allowed to, weird freaks who consider netflix a core part of their culture war will play damage control anyways and pretend the film grain adds "soul"
