/g/, I’m freaking out.Power just went out for a second. When my PC turned back on I got this. I’m retarded, so I don’t know what it is or what to do.Please help.
>>108506446Use the mouse, go to exit. Could have asked in /sqt/.,
>>108506453That just loops back to the same screen.
>>108506446set everything to 999
>>108506446No idea what you should do now but for the future you should invest in a surge protector such as this one if you don't have one already:https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Right-Angle-Protection-TLP1208TEL/dp/B0036FS22O?th=1Also are you able to select your SSD from the Boot menu?
>>108506446seems like your boot drive isn't being detected
>>108506462It either corrupted your boot sector or broke your drive. Likely the first. Use software to fix boot sector.
>>108506446Your bios settings got wiped and has reset itself to the default values. What does the time and date say? If its wrong by years then your cmos battery is dead, needs to be swapped
>>108506493I have a surge protector. It’s pretty old, though.Boot menu is this.>>108506503>Use software to fix boot sector. How?
>>108506446Hold your PC's power button until it turns off then turn it back on
>>108506514Make sure Windows Boot Manager is set for the Boot option then save changes and restart.
>>108506511Date is a few days ago, this year. My birthday, funnily enough. >>108506517Tried that already.
>>108506530Damn, same thing happened to me the other week, and happened to me friend last week. Kept boot looping into the bios and wouldn't recognize our drives. Holding the power and turning it back on fixed it. Good luck OP you running W11?
>>108506526Like this? When I save and exit it just goes back to >>108506446>>108506540Yeah.
>>108506552Are you running an nvme for your storage? If so what brand?
>>108506514It recognizes the drive, so it should just reboot normally if go to the exit tab and do save changes and exit. If It doesn't work, try unplugging the pc, holding the power on button for 30 seconds and then plugging it in again
>>108506552do you have a windows install usb
>>108506556A what? I don’t think so.>>108506566Oh christ. No, I don’t.>>108506562Tried that, nothing.
>>108506552>Like this?Try the "Boot Override" option within the Exit menu and see if it forces the Boot Priority to the SSD.
>>108506570It puts up a blank blue square for a fraction of a second, or it lingers and gets fucked up by the mouse moving. That’s probably bad.
>>108506576Well time to make oneMinimal 32gb iirc for the USB size just need to find a machine to write one with, there's very easy to follow guides on it some even from MS themselves
>>108506595One thing at a time, man.I keep most of my stuff on an external HDD. That’s probably fine, right?
>>108506619Try removing the CMOS for about 10 minutes and reinsert it to reset BIOS.
>>108506637The what?
>>108506643The CMOS Battery; It looks like a Lithium Battery which resides on your motherboard which retains BIOS/UEFI settings. If that doesn't work you will indeed most likely have to set up a Windows Install USB stick and run a boot repair command.
>>108506643>>108506653It could also very well be a failing CMOS battery. Once you pull out that battery, find out what number designation the battery has, such as CR 2032 and head out to a CVS or another department store such as Wal-Mart and get a new one and see if the replacement battery fixes it.
>>108506653>>108506681I see it in there, but I think I’d have to physically disassemble my PC to get it out. Me, who doesn’t know anything about this shit? That seems like an incredibly bad idea. I might just have to go to Microcenter tomorrow. …also, give it to me straight. How bad is this? Did I just lose everything? If we don’t know that, how likely is it?
>>108506716considering the disk is still detected worst case is probably you can recover the files but will have to reinstall windowsdecent you can just run repair off of a install usb drive and carry on
>>108506716Ask deepseek to trouble shoot the problem nigger Anons can't help you because they don't have all day and this kind of discussion is very slow
>>108506716>Did I just lose everything? It's hard to say honestly. Given the fact that your motherboard is able to read the SSD shows that the SSD is at least detected and might still be perfectly functional, but weather or not your OS is completely corrupt, I can't say, sorry. As others have said, the hardware is probably fine, you might just have to re-install Windows or at the very least repair your Windows Installation and/or the Bootloader.
And if this wasn’t enough, my old PC I still had lying around won’t even start. Fantastic. >>108506736>>108506769Alright. That’s better than it could be. Thanks, anons.
>>108506792Good luck, and remember it could always be worse.
>>108506446Press the "any" key.
>>108506810I was kinda counting on my old PC. It just sputtering and not turning on at all really got me. Might just be dust, I fucking hope it’s just dust, but this ain’t my night. It’s pretty worse.
One last post before bed, the HDD I mentioned in >>108506619 seems fine. Thank fucking god.
99% is an easy fix for any tech helpthey will care of it for youIF you need to do it yourself, turn off the back switch, disconnect the pc and don't touch anything until the motherboard leds are off, then remove the battery FIRSTthen make a windows usb if you have a spare pc around
>>108506964>99% is an easy fix for any tech help>they will care of it for younta but how much do you think they're gonna snoop >>108490866
>>108507004If you have pizza on your drive, don't give it to a stranger obviously.Go to your repair guy, ask to buy a flash drive with Windows installation media burned on it (literally free, should just cost a cheap flash drive and a small amount of his time).Plug in flash drive, select to boot from that drive, choose Repair Windows.
>>108507025What about legal but private and sensitive stuff?
>>108507129unless you sit there and watch them work they can see and do whatever they want with an unencrypted driveit would be pretty dumb of them to do something illegal that could be easily traced back to them though
>>108506845Maybe your power button on the panel has come lose or is damaged, if you open the pc some mobos actually have a power button on there that also works as a boot button, if that works it's good you're fine its just the button on the case that doesn't work for whatever reasonIf that doesn't work and it does absolutely nothing, no sound, no fans that spin for a second and start, just no signs of life at all I would assume the mobo isn't getting power for whatever reason (most often psu)If some signs of life are displayed but die out quickly, its still getting power but failing to boot probably because of faulty hardware
