Will we ever see DDR6 in the consumer market?
>>108515539maybe in thee next 7-8 years
I haven't even touched DDR5. I was on DDR3 until just 5 years ago.
>>108515539Fuck DIMM/CAMM. Just plop the DRAM on the processors and be done with it. Extendability is no longer worth the cost.
>>108515539You'll be lucky if you see DDR5 in the consumer market.
>>108515539I'd rather hope we'll eventually see HBM memory in consumer devices instead.
>>108515730Modern X86 CPUs regularly go (and can sustain) above 100C, while DDR5 has serious reliability issues around 60C. You can do low-price and low-power (relatively speaking) stuff on-package, but for high performance you'll want some space between components.
