Pipewire is notorious for crackling like a snap crackling when either recording audio, doing multiple streams or gaming. If you tab out of a game while something is playing it will do this screeching robotic static crackle.

On windows I have never ever ever had any audio problems over the 15 years I've used it. The worst problem I ever had was finding out how to set a microphone as the default because the audio panel is convoluted to even get to the

this is the first i'm hearing of it, i use pipewire and do these things occasionally and have never had this happen once
