why the fuck do trannies make a quintillion aliases for game commands that were already understandable? This one is for a command that already exists and is widely known called net_graph, what even is the point of making an alias for that single command ?

What on this list is actually usable for someone who has used Debian/some Fedora.
Devuan seems logical, what does system actually do? Does it's removal make it function different that Debian in anyway that the end user would notice ie break software compatibility etc?

kek debian faggots drinking wine. at least they're not drinking cum like arch trannies though.

holy shit that line makes my cock look like a fire extinguisher, holy based.
Also, Void has quite the fanbase. Which I can only see as possible if your OS isn't certified dogshit.
I imagine that everything that DOESN'T has SystemD has it's own learning curve though.

I can't test this myself. A friend wants to try linux, I'm suggesting Bazzite as the most retard friendly option for his goals. Will installing Bazzite alongside an existing Windows installation (on another disk) brick the enrolled secure boot keys and make Windows unbootable?
>>
>>108530929
Fedora based distros like Bazzite use something called Shim which lets it boot alongside Windows in secure boot mode automatically. Should be fine.

My steam overlay no longer works on CachyOS and I'm struggling to figure out why.
I noticed it a few days ago, whenever there is an issue I usually just update my system and it works, however for a few days I have been getting this message and I have been unable to update my system
>installing libjpeg-turbo (3.1.4.1-1.1) breaks dependency 'libjpeg-turbo=3.1.3' required by lib32-libjpeg-turbo
From my understanding, this is a 32-bit package that Steam/Proton uses a lot, which makes me think it might have something to do with my steam overlay not working?
So I removed the package, updated my system, then reinstalled the package. My system is now up to date, but my steam overlay is still not working.
This is annoying as I can't save any clips, and I got a 1v5 ace clutch in Cs2 I want to save ;-;
Not sure what is the issue, I was certain it was this package, but even after updating I'm still stuck. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?
>>
>>108531266
If you're using Wayland then the overlay is broken there. I don't know why, it just is. I never used the overlay anyway and always disabled it in most games.

You know how DAW's on Linux have a thing that will let them load Windows VST's? I wish DaVinci Resolve on Linux let you load OFX plugins from Windows, because BCC Damaged TV Dissolve is the only reason I have to dual boot. Fucking hate Windows, it just froze again.
>>
>>108531301
I resent that Windows doesn't even have a TTY shortcut to say "FUCK the running GUI threads, FUCK everything, let's perform a command directly". If your desktop ever freezes on Linux, you can fix it immediately with Ctrl+Alt+F2, holy shit Windows is so fucking bad.
>>
>>108530996
I forget who it was exactly but there was somebody who was terrified of running commands with unverified arguments because of situations like this. They recommended always running man first.

Join the 4 package managers master race:
>apt for system packages
>brew for command line stuff, newer versions than in debian's repos
>flatpak for some gui apps (e.g. the official dolphin emulator flatpak)
>snap for other gui apps (e.g. canonical's chromium snap)

>the package manager that basically does sneaky shit behind your back and is constantly having high level vulnerabilities
>also Canonical pulls a window and makes snaps update separately from the rest of the system and other package managers, if you disable or fix this issue they'll also just revert it in an update
HAH!
>>
>>108530929
Bazzite isnt really retard friendly. Regular fedora would probably be better.
>>
>>108532048
It also blindly roots anything that flags itself as a snap binary, which is why attacks are so common on it, it also stores its binaries in a separate binary bin which makes it easy to make a simple malware that scans for the folder to exist before execution.
>>
>>108530049
The only major issue with devuan and other distros that use alternative init systems is that some packages might not have a proper init service file and you might need to manually autostart some stuff like pipewire when you load your desktop.
>>
>>108531969
This is fucking retarded, and using homebrew on linux is even more fucking retarded when you could just use something better like nix instead.
Why would you willingly want the vanilla spyware version of chromium over ungoogled-chromium?
>>
>>108530049
You'll probably be less efficient but systemd was also bloating as time goes on anyway so depending how you use your system you might not notice a difference or it might be unbearable, emulate it first with a VM or a usb flash and use it for a while before you make a decision.
>>
>>108532039
>with just one extra step (adding the AUR), Arch users gain access to native packages of almost any and every Linux app in the world. But on the bad side, lots of these packages come from a chaotic free-for-all source that is largely unpoliced and occasionally contains nasty surprises. This is not the first time someone's put malware in the AUR.
https://www.theregister.com/2025/07/22/arch_aur_browsers_compromised/
>>
>>108532073
Homebrew is an excellent option if you want an up-to-date version of some CLI software, rather than the slightly older version in Debian's repos.
>Why would you willingly want the vanilla spyware version of chromium over ungoogled-chromium?
Because I don't trust whichever random person in their bedroom made ungoogled-chromium.
>>
>>108532080
Good thing that you can manually audit every PKGBUILD to check for anything malicious before you install it.
Good thing as well that the packages in question were a completely separate package and not related to the main official aur packages
>>
Why are Ubuntu's amd64-v3 packages only like 0.5% faster (and not always) compared to standard -v2? Is it that GCC/the compiler toolchain have neglected -v3, or are typical package sources largely unable to use the new instructions? Is this a sign that amd64 is stagnating and should eventually be replaced with aarch64?
>>
>>108532080
>librewolf-fix-bin, firefox-patch-bin, and zen-browser-patched-bin
People who install retarded shit like that deserve it tbqh
>>
>>108532080
Literally there has been malware uploaded to every package manager, you can thank the army of autists that volunteer their time to constantly crawl for malware to remove.
>>
>>108532108
>Good thing that you can manually audit every PKGBUILD to check for anything malicious before you install it.
Far too much effort
>official aur packages
The Arch website says "AUR packages are user produced content" so surely none of them are "official" since they're all uploaded by random people? Unless I'm understanding it incorrectly
>>
>>108532088
>a terrible package manager written in ruby made for macos is an excellent option for linux
Literally anything is better than homebrew.
>Because I don't trust whichever random person in their bedroom made ungoogled-chromium.
You don't trust flathub's ungoogled-chromium package but you trust google and cannonical?
>>
>>108532120
If you look at Flathub and the Snap store though, they both show some uploaders as verified. E.g. the GIMP flatpak on Flathub has been verified as originating from the developers of GIMP, rather than being uploaded by some random person. Packages like that are probably less likely to get infected with malware.
>>
>>108532127
Some packages on the aur are maintained by the official devs of that package like librewolf and librewolf-bin.

It works perfectly well on Linux.
>You don't trust flathub's ungoogled-chromium package but you trust google and cannonical?
Yeah I guess so. I've used Ubuntu before, which is widely used in the tech industry. I also have an Android phone. So yeah I trust Canonical and Google. They might do some things I don't love sometimes, but I think it's unlikely they would put genuine malware in their software, because it would massively harm their businesses.
>>
>>108531969
You would like Bluefin. It has brew, flatpaks, rpms, and distrobox pre-configured so you can add practically anything. The creator of it is a ubuntu guy and even configured Fedora's GNOME to act more like Ubuntu out of the box.
>>
>>108532187
I stopped using dd or any of these iso writing programs and just extract the iso to a formatted usb drive

HI I have a question about gaming on linux distros. I'm looking for a distro to install primarly for gaming / as a daily driver. I do use debian for work and I've used mint a bit during university so I'm not necessarily a complete beginner. Is this a good place to ask for recommendations? Basically I want something I can still use for work that won't necessarily break with every update but will maintain high perfromance if possible.
>>
>>108532380
If you want to stay in the Debian space you could look into PikaOS
>>
>>108532360
Nothing. It's just a dead simple GUI with no bullshit that just werks (not sure why it didn't for >>108532202 maybe they had an older version or it was buggy)
>>
>>108532380
>>108532473
Debian Stable is totally fine for gaming; even on its older kernel it gets margin of error FPS differences compared to CachyOS. If Debian works for you, I don't see why you shouldn't stick with it for gaming.
>>
>>108532380
SteamOS?
>>
>>108532380
Ubuntu and its myriad of flavors, though a lot of them aren't as polished as Ubuntu itself, but if you are okay with that you could poke around and look. Xubuntu, Lubuntu, and Kubuntu are all popular recommendations but they also have different use cases so you might want to read their philosophies before choosing one.

look into nobara, its fedora with extra steps, meaning no breakages and gayming/work wont be a pain. the funder is a former red hat software maintenance engineer and worked on proton-ge, community project.
apt stuff is great too, because of ubuntu.

>>108532607
Nobara is absolutely terrible. Discover doesn't even work with it because the repo metadata is completely fucked, so you have to use Nobara's own package manager which looks like something from Windows 3.1 and is SLOW AS FUCK. It takes minutes to check for updates let alone install them. Nobara saves you like 5 minutes of setup compared to regular Fedora (codecs + NVIDIA drivers) but will waste hours of your time as you try to install software and update your system. I don't think anyone who recommends Nobara has actually used it but just heard on Reddit "hey it's Fedora with some niceties". Not really; it's Fedora in the same way Manjaro is Arch or Ubuntu is Debian.
