I found my old macbook from 2015. Should I install arch linux on this or just keep it on macos. Unfortunately it only supports macos 12, so homebrew compiles everything from source.

>>108529281>16gb ramballer
sell it for an overly inflated price on ebay
No, install slackware... its gods operating system
>>108529281install linux or give it awayI don’t think that version of macOS has proper security updates anymoret. gave away his 2015 MacBook Pro because all he did with it was update it and keep the battery from discharging totally
>>108529281No. Keep it Mac OS. Do not disappoint king Tim Cook.
>>108529281>16GB of ramMore ram that what Apple uses today in a $600 Macbook Neo. And your laptop is 11 years old. Pathetic.
>>108529281You can use OpenCore Legacy Patcher to install new macOS versions even on old MacBooks
>>108530508haha yeah it's crazy that a $600 computer isn't as good as a computer that cost $2,700 in current dollars
>>108529286What the hell is OpenCore? I am reading the FAQ and the instructions, and all it seems to be is macOS "patched" to run on older hardware.I have a MBP14,1 and the problem with new macOS versions is that they're slow as fuck on an intel core 2 duo. Why would anyone install the latest macOS on an old MBP? It would be slow as fuck.>>108529281I installed Linux Mint on a MBP2013 and an Air 2018, worked perfectly. All the hardware was identified (even the wifi card) and all the hardware buttons worked. I also installed EndeavourOS/Arch on a MBP2017. EndeavourOS sucks though so I think I'll go with Debian on the MBP2017s I have.
>>108529281Support ended 2024. If you want to use it on a daily basis, I'd install Linux. I think this is more of a tinker device... "nostalgic" shit for you... so why not? Just install Linux. But Arch?
