why don't you upgrade to am5?
Why should I?It's still quite an investment because RAM prices haven't dropped to anything remotely sane. I got 32GB of DDR4 here (3600 CL16) that work perfectly fine. I got a 5900X which isn't amazing or revolutionary for gaming but it still does quite a lot. I don't know, why should I upgrade to AM5?

Paired with a $118 9600X from AliExpress and a Black Friday deal motherboard. I ended up making a decent profit on the move once I sold my AM4 setup and got a huge performance boost for the things I care about in the process.

Already did. Wasn't sure if it was worth it since the cpu of my choice had far less PCIE lanes which limits my choice for expansions, but I could get a pcie4.0x1 AQC113 10GbE card so it was okay. However I'm completely maxed out on my current board, while on AM4 I still would've had two or three slots to use.Only reason I'm keeping it is because of the RAM prices, and it's hard going back to the old iGPU. At least thanks to the RAM idiocy I could sell the old machine to cover up the upgrade costs.

Except I did. Quit spending all your money on not pc components and magically you can afford to do so too. Upgraded to a $1700 rig by setting aside $50-100 a week, replacing my GPU first so I could feel some gains half way through.

bought a b450 mobo in 2020 paired with a RX580 and ryzen 2700, later upgraded to a 6800XT and 5700X with 32GB ram running 3800 MT/s tight timings and its running fine especially longer term with the gpu undervolted which makes it get stock performance at 170W max

I used whatever the i5 4690k was on for a decade. I will do the same with the AM4 system I built late I to the cycle
