>>108533268I don't get it. The article is interesting, but I don't see what your point is. I fail to see how it has anything to do with long term cognitive impairment, instead it just studies how different sounds can divert your attention from the task at hand. You should your point clearer
>>108533268Holy shit. Someone actually managed to wasted countless hours of human lives be making them read this bullshit.Which says this: if someone speaks on the background while you're trying to concentrate, they will disctact you. Most distracting are the voices of humans, especially when they change teh tone of the voice often.
>>108533922Right? This feels like such a nothingburgerI respect the sheer autism needed to quantify how distracted each type of stimuli can make you but I'd be more interested if they could find some stimuli that improved short term recall when compared to silence

>>108534238They set the encoder up to fail to pad out many pages to reach a conclusion that everyone who knows anything about lossy audio already understands quite well. If you skimp on bitrate it's gonna introduce artifacts. Especially if you feed it problem samples. You're a dumbass schizo and only read the headline. I hate discussing technology with the mentally defective so I will not continue. Kys and stop stealing oxygen.
>>108534300>They set the encoder up to failThat's... the point, anon.
>>108533268Aw sweet, a schizo thread.
>>108533356Who the fuck are you?!
>>108534331>encoding at low ass bitrates is badI don't need a fucking study to tell me what people have known since the early days. Scene releases were already at 192k at the turn of the millennium then they went to alt preset standard vbr in 2004. That's 22 years ago that people started aiming for transparency in lossy encodes. Now most people pirating who consume lossy just get 320s.
>>108534397I think you're reading too much into the lower bitrates, what part of "unable to reliably notice a difference" are you not grasping here?
>>108534421It's low bitrate audio bro. If you run an experiment on me with it I'm probably not going to enjoy it. If you encode with alt preset standard on the dibrom modified LAME 3.90.3 from back in the day I probably won't be able to distinguish it from the original PCM even on the best equipment. I bet I could tell the difference back in 2004 when I was a teenager though!
