If LLMs do to high-level languages (C, Pascal, Java and the rest) what high-level languages did to assembly, what's the point of trying to devise new programming languages with the goal of optimizing the ergonomics of a human programmer, their productivity, and their ease of uptake?
Additionally, why bother learning new programming languages at all now, if LLMs facilitate easy translation from one language to another?

it's still wroth learning C

Coding as a career is over. Eventually 100% autonomous agents will be used to replace all codetrans left
Learning coding languages are not required anymore and it’s just a transgender hobby

The sad thing is, as "Unc"-coded as it sounds, these kids will never experience the magic of getting a physical book like
>The C Programming Language
reading it, learning the rudiments of a "computer language," and then writing programs in it to make the computer do what they want.

They can make the computer do what they want just by talking or writing in natural language. You are just nostalgic.

Wait, there are coders still around? I thought they all got replaced 10 years ago by low code/no code tools. What happened?

If all you're changing is syntax, like in a generic LLVM wrapper, then you're right.
However, the reason there's all these different languages is because they solve different complex problems.
Rust solves memory safety, go makes concurrency easy, java runs everywhere, c is basically an ABI now, etc.
There is some ideal language which is possible, but hasn't been created yet.

But they don't do that.

Is vibe coding the equivalent of DLSS for programming?

so you can more easily review what the AI shat out
you just optimize the language further for reading rather than for writing

You know you could just make a programming language that's optimised for both at the same time? Just get rid of that silly old idea that the text syntax is canonical — then both LLMs and humans can work on projections best optimised for their comprehension and use. I swear to god, sometimes programmers really feel like luddites saying "learning to code was painful to you, it should be painful to you" (I had this opinion before LLMs, mind you).

That's not the new goal. The new goal is token efficiency. Last I checked, top picks were stuff like Lisp/Forth with their terse syntax. But you need more good code to train the LLMs on it, instead of JS/Python.
