CPU
And it's obviously because it has to process 90 FPS instead of 70
the GPU didn't change because it was fully used on windows too, the performance was just getting wasted on bloat

no matter how much you try to push this meme it will never be real
>>
It very much depends on whether there's RT or not
Enable RT and performance on AMD on linux is usually inferior to Windows (not by a crazy margin, maybe 8-10% and very dependent on the engine). It doesn't help that more games are coming out with botched graphics without RT.
>>
>>108539703
have you seen mesa 26? it's beating windows in ue5 rayslop
>>
How is CachyOS for a beginner? Currently on Linux Mint and considering trying something new.
>>
>>108539719
Again it depends on the engine.
CP2077 is a direct -10% on performance. There have been zero improvements on Mesa 26 regarding that one.
>>
>>108539726
Not much more difficult
Honestly it's a pretty solid choice, just that it got too popular with gamers and so you'll have a lot of people lambasting it
>>

if you use the cachyos hello utility you can get pretty much anything you want done without touching the terminal

>>108539726
Try it in a VM, the main issue is it doesn't have a normal software center but instead a weird complicated native one. Also doesn't give much explanations in the tweaks menu like what Nvidia drivers to install (If you're on Nvidia)

Why would you still be using this? My stinkpad has 1080, iris xe, 24gb, and 1gb nvme. It can run a truly surprising amount of games on the igpu. When my windows 11 work laptop with a 3060 6gb couldn't run day z while I was on a trip because of battle eye just plain not working on windows 11 after multiple reinstalls and fix attempts I just ran it on my xubuntu stinkpad so I could still play with my friends on game night when I was on a trip.

check out the CPU usage

NTSYNC reduced overhead massively

come to think of it i actually have to update dxvk manually so maybe i'm like 30 version behind
>>

Windows has smoother frametime despite lower framerate.

It's probably cachyos gaymer scheduler fucking things up with unreals threads.
>>
>>108541551
the cpu usage is higher because the cpu is working for 90 frames, not 70, you fucking dumbass
>>
>>108541683
i'm on wine 10 still i probably dont have it
ill check it out though i doubt it'll makek a big difference
>>
>>108541674
>>108541680
this is another reason i switched back. im more sensitive to frametiming than how high my fps is (idc as long as its over 60) and some games performed the same on linux but felt better on windows, i kept comparing them on my dual boot to make sure.
>>
>>108541707
it doesn't make much of a difference on a half decent cpu but if you're on some quad core shitter it's a massive difference
>>
>>108541780
i'm on 5600g with rx6600 which i thought was a pretty good match
>>
>>108541803
You have 6 relatively new cores to throw around, you don't notice it as much. It basically doubled my framerate on a quad core intel atom.
>>
>>108541826
i dont have it dumbass
i already said i am constrained by CPU in emulation
>>
>>108541847
give it a try. I have the thread bookmarked you can drop your framerate increase in the thread and I will see it.
>>
Wayland or x11?
>>
>>108541885
wayland if amd
x11 if nvidia
>>
>>108541885
it's cachyos on amd
it's obviously wayland, no reason to run x11
>>
>>108539884
>half the bloat is skipped
and thats a good thing
>>
>>108541551
more fps = more cpu work

>i had to install windows to emulate on xenia
how fucking poor are you, that you can't afford an xbox 360?!
>>
>>108539726
If you don't have a compelling reasong to switch, stay with Mint. All these fancy gayming distros don't really offer anything better on a core level. Maybe only if you REALLY want to use KDE. But if you're only "bored" with Mint, then you won't get anything more elsewhere.
Now, to answear your question, Cachy is good but you need to use your brain a tiny bit. Now, if you're brain dead retarded you can try Bazzite. Either way you won't go wrong.

He has a really funny video showing off benchmarks with an RX580 and half the games just straight up refuse to run on windows but work fine on Linux. AMD has been deliberately shitting up their windows drivers specifically to push people to buy newer cards, the “fine wine technology” thing has been hurting their bottom line. This is why FSR4 isn’t available for RDNA3 on windows but works just fine on Linux, the 7000 series cards can absolutely run FSR4, AMD just gimps them so people will switch.

To the resident windows shills (we all see you, we know you’re being paid), how do you defend this shit?
>>
>>108539429
Strange. The GPU utilization is near-100% on both. You'd assume developers put more effort into the Windows versions of drivers, so how could this be the case?
>>
>>108543325
it's a combination of using a 5 year old card and windows 11 bloat
amd doesn't give a shit about drivers for their old cards anymore
boggles the mind as to why they aren't just using mesa on windows
>>
>>108539429
>Linux handles CPU-bound gaming better than windows
Why is this surprising.
>>
>>108543395
>cpu bound
>99% gpu use on the windows side
>>
>>108543325
it's the power of socialism in software. capitalist windows drivers could never keep up.
>>
>>108541442
It's on its way there, not perfect yet but the last couple of drivers have done strides towards better performance.

AMD Radeon has become a hardware-only brand, which means you'll have to provide your own drivers. Also, as soon as they release a hardware, it will be depreciated by them.
>>
>>108544988
>>
>>108545012
How bad? Hyderabad.
>>
>>108541717
Yes, exactly this. Even if some games runs better on Linux, I feel the micro stutterings all the time. I don't know what tf is happening, but it makes me angry. On windows I have absolutely no problems.
>>
>>108539719
>>108539429
Ok so what distro do I use to be able to do the same amount of production work and gaming without tinkertrooning for weeks?
>>
>>108539524
If you want to game on nvidia with linux you will straight up get more performance by passing the nvidia card to a virtual machine of windows because their linux driver nerfs game performance 20~50% while AMD's gives you at least nearly equal or sometimes better performance compared to windows.
On the other hand AMD is still hit and miss for AI.
>>108545054
Cachyos comes with a GUI installer and pre-setup desktop environments you can select from and is preconfigured with various performance optimizations so it's the best no hassle option right now, it's based on Arch so documentation is highly available for and you can use the AUR with it.
>>
>>108545054
just dual boot
delegate windows to a smaller ssd while you switch as much as you can to linux
there's a reason gaymers(tm) pick cachyos, it's just arch but better
